I awake, into black nothingness
Through a window…
Spans light.
I move toward it, albeit slow
Any return, unforeseen.
As I near, it shines bigger and brighter
I am aware.
My pace, grows faster and faster.
But suddenly, a tug, and another stronger still.
Then,
It is pain… pain insurmountable.
Eyes open to white.
Surrounded, by contraptions and weeping kin
I hung by a strand
One I chose to sever.
As I fall back into the black
The window shone still, although now as doors
Waiting…
And as I step through, never to return,
They close behind me forever.
