The Winds, I've Heard them (Part 3)

"I wish I wasn't so shy and frail... Now look at what I've done... My big brother and dad are not talking to each other now because I didn't stop them from fighting."

I was walking back and forth with my thumbnail between my teeth. If I said something, that might have changed it.

"I wonder what dad really wanted to say... It felt like he was about to add something else. Now It doesn't matter, I have to find a way for them to get back together."

That's when I put myself on the chair and started thinking harder.

"So let's see... Um... No... I have no idea what to do.
Ugh, I'm so useless! I can't think of a single way they could make up! Think, Piper! Think!"

and just when I thought there was no way...

"Oh! Yes, I saw that trick on TV. I'm gonna get some paper write some fake letters that will make them think they are talking to each other! Yes! That will surely bring them back to each other! "

I was pretty perplexed about what happened. I had that long conversation to myself in the lodge room while my dad was showering, and boy, does he sing so badly (don't tell him.)

I left the room and now I'm lost in the corridors of this cabana styled lodge guesthouse. I guess it wasn't such a good idea to leave the room, haha... Now I'm really confused. Was that left? Was it right? Of course it wasn't right, Piper...

At least it's well lit, and I like the wall's turquoise color.

"Oh, You look lost ..." then I saw this very beautiful woman! She was so tall, and her teeth were really white as she smiled at me. She looked like one of those characters I always see on my father's magazine covers...But what really caught my eye was the paper pad she was holding.

Sure, I needed it but what I really wondered was why did she have it in the first place.Ugh, So I asked.

"What's that pad paper for?" I hope she doesn't think that's a weird question.

And then she laughed so hard. She even choked but then went on again which made me laugh a bit too. She stopped eventually with a gulp.

"I'm the manager of this place so I always bring this around." she smiled again.

"Oh! ... I'm so sorry!" I had to apologize, My dad told me that managers are very rich and powerful people. They may do bad things if you're not respectful.

"No need to apologize, I forced myself to have time off." I went forth though and whispered...

"You know, My dad and brother are fighting so I want to make them some letters to each other so they think that they are sorry for each other..." then I went on about how I wanted the paper.

She looked up and got in a thinking position.

"I know your father, his name was William, was it? ... Let's see..."

Then she started writing something on those pad papers. She folded the paper in this heart shape.

"I learned this fold from my cousin. Now, give it to your dad. I have a better idea than your letter madness." After giving me the paper she gave me a wink, I was sure she was the girl from his favorite magazine.

And later on we went to my room (It turns out this Cabana Guesthouse only has 5 rooms so she knew where this room was) and she brought me back in.

I walked in to my dad looking under the beds and I was laughing so hard.

"Where were you?" He asked.

"Ugh..." I decided not to tell him, but I showed him the heart folded pad.

He quickly snatched it with very wide eyes, I almost thought he was going to faint because his face got pale. I faintly heard him say this name...

"Mika..." He quickly opened the letter, like a kid on Christmas day.

He read it eagerly, His eyes where shifting so fast. He was smiling so hard.

I wondered. Is she a celebrity my dad always wanted to see? Is she an old friend? Is that an autograph?

I only sat on the chair... finding myself thinking hard again.

-Meanwhile, somewhere else.

"I wonder how William is doing." I said with a sigh as I crossed my arms on my balcony. It was one of those mesmerizing days when you could just reminisce the past all day long and just wonder how it all went on like this now. The torches still blare. The children no longer play but the sea still prances and banters on.

The door to my room opens with a delightful click and then four knocks after. "Oh, Tora." I looked back at my cousin.

"Mika, How was your day?" My cousin always asks that.

"Just like yesterday. Hahaha." I laughed.

"I know that laugh means something has come up..." He gave a smirk I've always seen.

"You know me so well!" We both laughed that night. All the while, the winds raged on as we heard them. Then silence came running across the room. The torches outside must've gone out because it got darker.

It was not exactly a refreshing breeze... It was the blow so ominous, we had only a frail light of hope. The stupid thing was that we did nothing about it.

The only thing lit was a candle on my coffee table. It was a sorrowful feeling... It filled us with painful memories.

"Do you... Do you think dad would be back someday? ..." He looked at me with eyes I've seen only a long time ago. I knew his pain, It was our pain...

He walked off a distance to his part of the room. "Don't worry, I'm not doubting... I can keep faith."

I ran to him and gave him a strong grasp to the wrist. I saw his face full of tears and I couldn't help but embrace him. We both felt the sorrow of those times, those hollow windy days without him.

He was sobbing now, I couldn't hold anything back either. We were on our knees just like that day the news came to us in that untidy little bungalow. Until now, We haven't seen any trace of the man we always cared about and the man who always thought about us more than himself.

"Faith... is all we need now more than ever.... Don't ever forget that. Don't ever lose faith..."
