(2020||Zip) Polo G THE GOAT Album Listen DownloadJust a few days after his close friend and collaborator Lil Tjay announced his upcoming mixtape, Chicago rapper Polo G announced the release date and title of his own next album, The GOAT, which releases just a week later. The two rappers were introduced to mainstream listeners at just about the same time, with the breakout single “Pop Out,” and it seems that their respective journeys remain linked. While it's impossible to judge an album on the basis of a tracklist alone, it does seem to indicate what type of sonic journey will be undertaken. From the look of it, Polo G will be spending plenty of time standing tall by his own merits, with only five of the sixteen tracks having guest appearances. On that note, look for Mustard, Juice WRLD, Lil Baby, Stunna 4 Vegas, BJ The Chicago Kid, and NLE Choppa to play supporting roles on this go-around.

The cover features a close-up shot of Polo with goat horns growing out of his head, flanked by a pair of portraits of the 21-year-old with his infant son Tremani. The GOAT is described in its press release as a celebration of his life and legacy. The press release also confirms that both of his previously released singles, “Go Stupid” with Stunna 4 Vegas and NLE Choppa and the moody, social distancing single “DND,” will appear on the project as well, along with production from some of the rap game’s biggest hit makers Hit-Boy, Murda Beatz, and Mustard.
According to a press release, THE GOAT will also harbor coveted production from Murda Beatz, Mustard and Hit-Boy. The record is set to arrive on May 15.
On Instagram, Polo also unveiled the project’s cover art, which depicts the Chicago native sprouting goat-like horns, along with his young son, Tremani.
While his Gold-certified debut, Die A Legend, saw Polo crafting emotional bars and spitting through the pain, a press release notes that THE GOAT is “a celebration of [his] life and legacy.”
“I feel like I tell it from the perspective of the pain that I endured and from the standpoint that I went through the same thing,” the 21-year-old told HipHopDX last November, after the success of his breakout Lil Tjay-assisted single, “Pop Out.
“I’m fighting through the same thing daily and you can get through it too. I feel like I tell a lot of truth and pain in my music, but I also try to be an inspiration that you can do this,” he added.
The Chicago-bred rapper also sat down for an episode of DX’s “Thought Box” where he detailed his journey in detail.
Polo G officially announced his upcoming album, The GOAT. Out May 15 via Columbia Records, the LP marks the Chicago rapper’s sophomore studio album following June 2019’s Die A Legend.
If his debut mourned fallen friends and family, its successor celebrates life and legacy. The album’s cover art, which features the rapper and his son Termani, is a reflection of the themes we can expect Polo G to dive into. The GOAT promises to deliver his most powerful and heartfelt material — including “DND” and “Go Stupid” with Stunna 4 Vegas and NLE Choppa — to date with the help of esteemed producers like Murda Beatz, Mustard, Hit-Boy, Tay Keith and WiLL Made-It.
