British outfit Asking Alexandria have just shared the details surrounding their sixth studio album, and the follow-up to their 2017 self-titled effort.

The band’s new album, ‘Like A House On Fire’, is set for release on May 15th 2020 through Sumerian Records.

This is what guitarist Ben Bruce had to say of it.

Speaking about the upcoming album, guitarist Ben Bruce says, “we have been working our asses off for the last couple of years on creating this album. We are absolutely in love with what we have created. There are songs about triumph, strength and resilience. There are songs about losing love, losing passion and losing faith. There are songs about moving on to new things and song’s celebrating our journey. This album is filled with love and passion from the five original members of ASKING ALEXANDRIA.”

Alongside the announcement of the new album, the band have released the first single from the upcoming album; titled Antisocialist. Speaking about the song, Bruce continues, “Antisocialist is a song written for everyone who just wants to stick their middle fingers up high in the air and scream at the top of their lungs. It’s a song for the frustrated, the forgotten, the unappreciated and the downtrodden. It’s a song for those who work hard and receive nothing in return. It’s a song for those who dream hard and are laughed at. A song that says what we all feel from time to time and a song to just let loose to! Enjoy!”

The follow-up to their 2017 self-titled record is called Like A House On Fire – and it’ll launch on May 15 through Sumerian Records. Guitarist Ben Bruce says: "We have been working our asses off for the last couple of years on creating this album. We are absolutely in love with what we have created. “There are songs about triumph, strength and resilience. There are songs about losing love, losing passion and losing faith. “There are songs about moving on to new things and song’s celebrating our journey. This album is filled with love and passion from the five original members of Asking Alexandria."

Re-upping the energy, Take Some Time and One Turns to None are a pair of defiant rock heavyweights and shows just how and why the band has risen to such grand heights. A bit wilder and messier (the drum beat in particular), It’s Not Me (It’s You) is a party floor filler before it’s a return to the mellow rock tones of Here’s to Starting Over. However, the effects are overdone here, layered over the vocals occasionally to their detriment. A shame as the chorus has some serious weight to it.

It’s a slight wobble but just that as the rock heavyweights return to form with What’s Gonna Be, Give You Up and In My Blood. A trio that wander pleasantly through a myriad of effective ideas delivered by a band with the capabilities to do so. The latter is quite a pretty track, the melodies blended well with the danceable beat.

Finally, this lengthy effort closes out with two massive efforts; The Violence and Lorazepam. The former is one of the album’s best tracks as Asking Alexandria get a bit playful but also hit the hardest they have all album. While the latter has a wicked amount of growl to the vocals that make for a sexy as hell finale.

Regardless of if you think their popularity is undeserved, few can argue that Asking Alexandria haven’t worked for it. This long into their career, it’s clear they’re still willing to push themselves and ensure they deliver what their hulking fanbase demand.
