Earlier in the month, Bad Bunny took to Instagram Live for an impromptu three-hour-long livestream, where, in between chatting with his followers, dancing, drinking and performing some of his hits, he unleashed some previously unreleased music. Now, with the release of this Mother’s Day special, we won’t have to search grainy YouTube videos to enjoy those tracks.
With a YEEZUS-like album cover, Las Que No Iban A Salir is a candid listening experience and a look into the Puerto Rican superstar’s artistic process. But he’s not alone here, Bad Bunny enlists vocal support from Zion & Lennox, Don Omar, Nicky Jam, Yandel, Gabriela, and Jhay Cortez.

Bad Bunny’s latest full-length came with little warning. However, he notably previewed some of the new tracks on Instagram Live during quarantine, sipping from a red solo cup and cracking jokes as he played thundering trap singles.
The timing of Bad Bunny’s release was all the more surprising considering that his last full-length, YHLQMDLG, is less than three months old. YHLQMDLG featured veterans (Daddy Yankee, Yaviah) and rising stars (Sech, Myke Towers) alike, and it was an instant hit, debuting at Number Two on the Rolling Stone Top 200 Albums chart and amassing close to 165 million streams opening week.
Listeners have returned to the album consistently in the weeks since its release. YHLQMDLG hasn’t left the Top Ten, and its racked up nearly a billion streams in the U.S. alone. The album conquered old-school mediums as well as the digital world. “Yo Perreo Sola” and “La Dificil,” a pair of lean, hard-nosed reggaeton singles, are both Top 20 on Latin radio this week.
As Covid-19 spread around the world earlier this year, many older stars decided to postpone planned albums. But digitally savvy acts with fervent streaming fanbases have remained effective. DaBaby released Blame It on Baby, his second album in less than seven months, in April. Drake dropped a surprise mixtape, Dark Lane Demo Tapes, on May 1. Now Bad Bunny has a surprise quarantine album of his own.
Bad Bunny surprised his fans over the weekend with yet another new album.
The 10-track release, titled Las Que No Iban a Salir (The Ones That Were Not Coming Out), dropped on music streaming services Sunday (May 10), marking the Puerto Rican artist's second new album in 2020. The set features appearances by fellow reggaeton stars Don Omar, Yandel, Zion & Lennox, Nicky Jam, and Jhay Cortez.
Las Que No Iban a Salir follows Bad Bunny's first 2020 album, YHLQMDLG, which dropped in February and made history on the Billboard charts. YHLQMDLG debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, scoring the highest charting all-Spanish-language album ever.
Last weekend, Bad Bunny previewed songs from Las Que No Iban a Salir during an epic three-hour appearance on his Instagram Live. In addition to teasing new music, he also entertained viewers during quarantine by sipping on drinks, dancing with his girlfriend, and playing YHLQMDLG in its entirety.
“I will be thanking you personally before the world ends and listening to the album [YHLQMDLG] really drunk with you,” Bad Bunny announced prior to the feed.
The IG Live lasted more than three-hours long with over 250K viewers connected at all times. At one point, his Live reached 320K viewers, beating out Drake and Tory Lanez.
