4 Ways of Repairing That Damaged Online Reputation

1) Always start by apologizing. I know that may be obvious to some people, but today when many messages are done virtually it is hard to really get that empathetic message across. So, go the extra mile when fixing your online brand reputation. If customers can see you are trying to be a better you, they will respect you for it and will give you another shot even if you let them down the first time. But, the key here is being sincere.

2) Monitor your brand online. So this doesn't happen again you will definitely want to start monitoring your brand online. You can do so by trying out one of the three free tools that I mentioned in an earlier post.

3) Develop a business blog. This is crucial actually. You may want to develop one regardless of if you need to repair a reputation or not because it helps in increasing Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and your ratings on Google, Yahoo, and other search engines. 

The key to blogging, though, is to engage your customers (but you already knew that didn't you) and to link things back to your website. Linkbuilding will build your SEO and will also give readers a chance to find out more about you, your business, your company mission statement, etc.-all things that are necessary in starting to repair/gain consumer trust.

4) Generate content. We as consumers want value in our lives. We want to feel valued. Send out e-newsletters to your customers who sign up to receive them. Send out thank you cards when they are loyal customers for anniversaries. Just send them content that is relevant and reliable. You do not want to go ahead and hurt your brand name even more. 

By generating content you will do two things: (1) you will allay any consumer worries that your brand is still the same old brand it was when issues arose because you'll be treating them better (2) by constantly generating content you will show up higher in the SEO algorithms which means more people will find you and hopefully those good reviews posted about the company.

Not all is lost. If you are going through a brand-identity crisis right now and not sure where to take your company, relax, and think about the future. You want to plan for long-term success, not short-term. You want your brand to grow even if it's at, what you consider, its lowest moment.
