1. A Walkthrough
The best time to do a walkthrough of your new house is when it’s empty. You can do it in two ways, first one day before your moving day, second before setting up your furniture and getting unpacked--- if possible. Double-check for the following things.
1) All the things are made one that you requested to fix or repair by the previous owner.
2) Your new house has everything present that is included in the sale.
3) All the appliances are working in order, including fixtures, outlets, and switches.
If you notice that something is missing or goes against the sale contract, then you should immediately contact the realtor and let him answer it for you. On the other hand, for those not covered in your contract, no one is responsible for that except you. They are now your responsibility to fix them on your own.
2. Make your Area kids Proof
If you are moving with some kids, then you have to take some steps to make your new house safe for the child. It will help you to put your setup full into place while keeping everyone safe. Before you start to unpack your items, make sure all windows are securely closed, and nothing is coming off of the blinds. Box cutters, glassware, and cleaning supplies keep these things dangerous things away and out of rich of the little child.
3. Figure Out What’s Going Where
After saying goodbye to your moving company, now it’s time to settle your items to their best place where they will look good. To keep yourself away from the stress of placing things in the right place, make a strong plan for setting them up instead of just winging it. It will help you move them into the right room, particularly for large and bulky items like furniture. You probably already have thought of what goes in which room, but it’s just a basic plan. You will get rid of getting tired of moving a thing multiple times if it doesn’t look good at that place. Applying these tips will make your job easier.
4. Update address and Set your Utilities
Make sure you have set everything ready to go and to work fine in your new house. Take care of your utilities, and the postal card address is set to your new address. On moving day, check your heating and cooling, electric, water, gas, phone, and internet are setups correctly. You also have to contact your waste management facility and inform them about your new address so that your garbage can be picked up timely.
5. Search the Water Valve and Fuse Box
Fuse box and water valve are the two main things that every house has. You must locate them right after when you move into your new house. So that you don’t need to end up looking for them when you need them. It’s way better to look for them when you walk through the entire house than running unsureness in an emergency. Or any other reason when you need to turn it off. Once you know where they are located, it will be easier for you to turn them on or off whenever you need them.
6. Deep Cleaning of your New Home
One of the most crucial steps for your new home is to do a deep clean. You and your family might not like your new house if that is full of dust or dirt. Do a cleaning process for your new home from top to bottom whenever you want, but the best time to do the cleaning is right after moving.
