"No one helps you once you're fucked."
"Huh?"
"Before sex, you help each other get naked. But after sex, you only dress yourself."
"You need some help with your clothes?"
"Nah, just something I read on the internet today", she said looking for her skirt.
"So, how do you feel?"
"Horrible! or you may say whore-ible."
"What? You seemed to enjoy it 5 minutes ago."
"Oh, no..the sex was great. I'm talking about myself. I feel so guilty. I can't keep sleeping with someone else's husband. When are you planning to divorce her?"
"Soon." I said as I locked my office.
I dropped her at her place and drove back home. As I parked my car, I noticed a man coming out of our building followed by my wife. She leaned forward to kiss him, a kiss that can hardly be described as sisterly. Then she walked back into the building.
I pressed the doorbell and she let me in. I found myself inspecting the room I already knew too well.
"Who was your guest?" I asked pointing towards the glass of wine.
"An old friend. Also a real estate broker. He kept asking if we were interested."
"He sure did break his way into your pants."
"Alright. So we are finally having this talk. Did your mistress ask you to divorce me? But she's not the first one, is she?"
"What mistress? We are talking about you here."
"Oh, please. You think I have no idea about all the 'overseas trips' you've been going on lately? All the late night 'meetings'? You always had a hint that I was cheating on you too. But you never spoke up. The guilt in your heart kept you from doing so."
"How could you not say anything, Carol, while you knew everything? Instead you decided to do the same?"
"We aren't who we want to be. We are what the society wants us to be. We have been in this dead relation for years but we don't want this to end. It's our adulterated love for each other that's stopping us.We have a greater need for love.
All the men I've been sleeping with are just a sedative for my empty soul. The loneliness has eaten away the best part in us. We pretend to be happy but who are we kidding? We can't deceive ourselves.
We've already committed the sin, my dear. We are trapped in this and the worst part is that we've started enjoying this. We don't know where it's heading to and the challenge makes it more exciting. We kept lying to each other. We only hide when we are doing something we are not supposed to. We have committed this 'Spiritual crime' and now we can't even face ourselves. "
Complete silence filled the room. We both, engrossed in our own thoughts, kept lying on the couch.
"Do we need to face ourselves?" I said breaking the silence.
"You keep doing your thing and I'll do mine. And we shall never ask each other again of the 'wine'."
