This is an apology I would like to convey to the men of my city, state and even my country. I know I know "not all of you are like that", well i guess you know yourself better than I do, so this is for the rest of you.
I'm sorry, for always complaining to you;
about that other boy who broke my heart.
I'm sorry for being so loose and free when it comes to my emotions;
I guess we can't all be as emotionally stable as you.
I'm sorry for my legs, oh those sinners of legs I possess,
they're tired of being shut away from the light for so long;
I set them free once and immediately your eyes burned,
burned with the indecency you saw on me.
I'm sorry for being silent when you make sexual innuendos,
it's not everyday that a handsome man like you says that to someone is it?
I'm sorry for not being grateful;
when you pass a comment on my appearance or clothes,
I'm sorry for not fitting up to your standards,
for not looking like Kate Upton or dressing like Kylie.
And i'm also sorry for not being culturally appropriate,
by not wearing sarees and learning how to cook like your mother
I'm sorry for screaming when you grab at me on a street,
after all, you have your needs.
I'm sorry for not accepting your "love" in it's truest form,
as you stalked me on my way back home.
Last of all, i'm sorry for thinking that I could be independent,
culture wouldn't allow that now would it?
And I'm sorry for ever thinking there was hope for any of you,
who still think like this.
