That beautiful innocent smile,
When I saw on the sun-tanned rural face
Freckles on the skin, glimpse of white in the hair
The little cuts here and there.
Indeed, the years had been difficult to bear.
Her eyes bright with happiness
Looking at my face with childish curiosity
The red satin rounding her waist
Draping over her shoulders,
Covering the very sea of her old skin.
Her delicate hands in motion
With skin lumping round her decorations.
Her yet alive bangles making the familiar tinkling sound
Reflecting indeed, the liveliness of her soul.
When she moved a step away,
Her hands weaving words in the air
She left a glipmse of her tiny feet,
Bare and strong with the tests of time
Hard enough, to contradict the very delicacy of her lips.
The mirror jhumkas reflecting the sun rays .
Illuminating every direction visible to sight.
Adding up to the unspeakable beauty of her existence.
Her hair swirling in the brisk wind
Harmonizing my senses with its deep smell.
A smell that smelled of sorrow and pain
Of sacrifice,of love, of loss of gain .
Her beauty, still outliving its life
Humbling me with the woman in her
My eyes saerching for peace in hers
So tired, so decaying yet, so alive.
The truth of us
So sour so sweet
Enrapturing the moment with strings of love
Amidst all chaos ; our hearts beat, our souls danced
Together our feminity intertwined.
While she still struggled with her words
Dumb , as she was
She moved her head side to side
Matching the rhythm of her melodious hands
Perhaps trying yet again,to let her feelings flow;
To connect one heart to another.
