Breaking stereotypes in writings - Subject one

Info

I have always seen some stereotypes that are unconsciously used by writers, with published books or not. They are not necessarily bad, just a bit overused and starting to seem a bit unoriginal. here, I'm going to give you (as a writer) a spark to think differently about one subject at a time and give you an example. Please ask me before using my example. I may say no, it does belong to me.

Death, usually described as dark and horrible. something that wears a robe to hide their hideous self, something that is emotionless and takes our loved ones to a place seen by no alive man. Death is usually personified as a black cat (symbol of bad luck) or darkness. I want you to think the other side of death.

I want you to think of what death would feel like for anyone, some have a harsh death while others have a calm one. there is no right or wrong way to it, just a different way. Death, at the end of the day, should be represented with something earth like. something that is around us, its slow but fast. its everywhere but nowhere. Death isn't always beautiful, but so isn't life.

make it something very real and very fascinating to you.

something we wish we knew more about.

….

My example

To me, death is always like the ocean. here is why.

she stands there, her white dress flowing.

her eyes a deep blue,

they seem to be glowing.

I smile as she passes around me,

She is calming to the soul.

someone once told me that she will seem like a ghost,

but her figure feels motherly, like a lullaby that is waiting to become a song.

She comes towards me,

her eyes turning a terrifying gold.

A scream,

a shout.

My legs crash and my arms wail around.

While I can't see her tears in the blue of the ocean,

her stained cheeks are really saying something.

Her soft finger tips touch my lips,

her words are just a bubble in my ears.

"sleep, my child"

The last thing I see is the ocean,

and a smile from the woman that is the queen of gold and the blue.

Thank you

….

now, try writing.
