Broken Dreams

Each of us carry on inside our hearts an ocean of shattered hopes, endless agony, broken dreams and a thousand tales that we're too afraid to share with the world cause we're too weak to face the truth, too melancholic to talk about it all. Oh, just how many times do we knock on closed doors in the hope of getting an answer? How many times do we plead in spite of our self-respect for one more chance, hoping to make it better, hoping to make it all go away? How many times do we close our eyes hoping that once we open them, everything is beautiful? In spite of everything, we tread on the path of the endless miseries of the world and hope to make it to the end somehow, whether victorious or torn and battered. Most of us are not conquerors, we are barely survivors-survivors who lost faith in the world, humanity, family, friendship, love but still made it this far by dragging our dead souls across the floor. Life is harsh, dreadful and terrible at times. However, it is also precious-something to cherish. There are so many beautiful things in the world to see: a new-born baby, the grandeur of the gardens, the magnificence of the waves, the wings of a butterfly or the serenity of the lakes. There are so many things to live for; that extra cheese on your pizza, the smile on your mother's face, the smell of earth after a downpour or the places on your bucket list.

Every year, we lose brothers and sisters from our world cause they got exhausted and gave up. And every time that brings us to the question of whether they failed or us. Maybe, they failed cause they couldn’t see the immense possibilities in front of them. Maybe, we failed them because we were never there to repair their vision so they could see the obscure. But, for how long will this go on? For how long shall we keep on giving up on our hopes, dreams, ambitions and most importantly, life? Isn’t this the time to finally say, “Enough is enough”?

"You won't understand me", "My story is different from yours", "This is just not happening"-enough! No one will ever understand you. Just listen to your heartbeat and believe. Trust me, at the end of the day, you will rejoice in being the lone warrior. Your story is different from mine. Nevertheless, for once, just say it. Maybe I will understand you; maybe I'll be able to say just one word that might comfort you. This is not happening. It will happen. Just give it some time. Will you? For once, let us take a deep breath. Close our eyes and open again but this time to see the things we've never seen, to smell the roses on our way. There is so much to learn from Mother Nature. The river that never stops rippling until it meets the ocean, the street dog that manages to survive even with his bare skeleton, the bats who do not cease to hunt in spite of their blindness, the caterpillar that struggles its way out of its cocoon to become a beautiful butterfly. Have they ever decided to give up? If they don’t give up, why should we who are the superior of all living creatures? To all my fellow beings, I proclaim, “Never give up on your dreams”. At the end of the day, we are all just a cluster of broken dreams who 'should' and 'will' dare to dream again.
