Wix launched its own in-house payments gateway in 2019 which can be used in addition to or instead of other payment methods. It’s proved a popular solution, with eight out of 10 new Wix users now reportedly using it as their payment processor – but is it right for you? We’ll help you decide in this review.
Wix Payment Overview
Wix Payments is Wix’s free, in-house payment gateway for users on its business plans, removing the need for third-party processors. You can use it alongside PayPal to offer more choice to customers, and it’s available in 14 countries (including the US). The processing fee for credit and debit cards is 2.9% of the transaction, plus $0.30.
1-What Is Wix Payments?
Wix Payments is Wix’s own payment provider, allowing you to accept payments through your Wix website. It’s like choosing PayPal or Stripe to process payments, but with Wix Payments everything is kept in one place instead of outsourcing to third party platforms.
Wix Payments is now one of the main payment options available when setting up payments through your Wix website:
Wix Payments – accept credit and debit cards directly through Wix
PayPal – accept payments from customers using PayPal
Manual payments – accept cash, cheques, or other offline payments
Square card reader – accept credit card payments on the go using the Wix Mobile app
Wix Payments lets you:
Accept secure online payments
Manage all transactions from your Wix dashboard
Handle your business’ payout schedule
Process refunds and chargebacks
Offer flexible payments, from memberships to subscriptions
Accept payments from any device
Access 24/7 customer support
All of this without the need to use a third-party payment provider! The idea behind Wix Payments is to offer a secure, efficient, and convenient payment method for businesses that can be easily managed from one central dashboard.
What Fees Does Wix Payments Charge?
Wix Payments is free to use, and charges no transaction fees. In fact, Wix doesn’t charge transaction fees on any of its payment methods. This sets Wix apart from other builders such as Shopify, which charges fees unless you use its in-house payment processor Shopify Payments.
However, all payment providers charge a processing fee as standard, and Wix Payments is no different.
