Car owners have always fought for the safety of the body paint. It's nice for us to see our car new and shiny. And how much the first scratches upset us! But every car is not in the most favorable environment: sometimes the sun, sometimes rain or snow, sometimes dirt and road salts...
In the past, drivers tried to protect their car's appearance with wax coatings. They were relatively cheap and helped add extra shine to the paint while improving the water-repellent properties of the coating. However, this method of protection requires constant attention. After almost every wash, you need to reapply the protective agent, rub, polish, and all this yourself - by hand. The situation changed as soon as the so-called liquid glass appeared on the market, the durability of the coating is incomparably higher, and its protective qualities are much better.
Benefits of ceramic protection
The most important thing is the durability of the coating, which, if applied correctly, lasts for at least several years and all this time perfectly performs its functions. The ceramic coating car is not afraid of:
- Rain and mud, sand and heavy reagents.
- Bird droppings and branches of trees or bushes that from time to time touch the car and still scratch the paint.
- Minor contact with other vehicles or any obstacles while maneuvering in parking lots.
- Actions of street hooligans trying to scratch your car with a nail or draw something on it.
Things to remember
In fact, detailing and auto ceramics are quite expensive procedures. As the practice of companies engaged in auto ceramic coating and car polishing shows , upon learning about the cost of the work, many car owners silently turn around and leave.
High price is the main disadvantage of auto ceramics. In second place is the duration of the work. Professional application of the coating will take several days, after which you will still need to endure a couple of weeks of “quarantine”, i.e. allow the coating to better harden, protecting it from unnecessary scratches, dirt and thorough washing.
But that's all! Autoceramics have no other disadvantages. If you value the excellent appearance of your car, ceramic car treatment is the best solution for you.
Nano- or polymer ceramics for cars?
If the amount does not scare you, and you are ready to leave your car in the hands of specialists for a while for professional processing, you will have to make another choice: between coating with nanoceramics and polymer ceramics. There is also a difference between these two types.
In both cases, the protective film is formed from a substance based on silicates. But polymer ceramics contain more complex silicon compounds, which give the protective layer slightly different qualities than those of nanoceramics. And again we can talk about both pros and cons:
- Nanoceramics will cost more than polymer coating.
- Polymer ceramics better protect paint from scratches, but only while the coating is new.
- Nanoceramics stays on the paintwork much longer, and therefore the appearance of the car will remain ideal for a longer period.
- Polymer ceramics need to be renewed more often. If this is not done in time, you can forget not only about the protective qualities of the coating, but also about the aesthetic appearance of the car. And the nanoceramic coating wears out gradually and almost imperceptibly, although it also requires periodic updating.
It’s up to you to decide what type of ceramics to choose for the body of your car. However, it wouldn’t hurt to listen to what the experts have to say before making a decision.
