Chess Board

Info

Once has a lay on my bed with the blinds closed and just a tiny ray peeping in, staring at the ceiling above i thought, "life". What is LIFE?

Tears seeped down the corners of my eyes and i closed my eyes . Even through the darkness and could feel everything, I could see everything.

As I lay there thinking , thinking about all the people I met. People i laughed with and cried with, it just made me realize life is just like a Chess Board game.
The ponies, the castle, the horse, the bishop and finally the king, all of these are people around us.

As we grow up, we meet a lot of people and we make a lot of friend. Some friends are there for you always, like an invisible presence. They don't interact with you much and may be they even forget your birthday. They are not the once you talk with everyday nor do you share anything with them, but in the ups and downs on your life they do have an invisible presence. Protecting you always, even sacrificing themselves for you, just like the pony. It stands in front of the queen and their importance is hardly felt by the player. When the player starts playing the first move towards the game, i would say the real game of life is made by the pony. They travel all the way to the other side of the game protecting the king and the queen. They sometimes even let themselves be killed just to avoid or spoil a move of the opponent, sometimes they even stand face to face with the enemy and doesn't let it make a move. Isn't this what some friends or some people in your life do for you? They are not the once you share everything with but they are the once who protect you in a way you don't even realize.

Through these thoughts i wondered, who is the king.

It stroke me then, the king is the one person we love. The person we are ready to do anything. The person for whom we are ready to sacrifice ourselves just to be with him, forever. We would kill and move mountains just to be with him.

Isn't this what a queen on the board does?

She travels east, west, north and south protecting the king. She slays anybody trying to harm the love of her life. She even stand in front of him, ready to take a bullet or may be a sword. Doesn't it seem like a lovers garden on the chessboard?

And what is life without love!
Now wondering who would be the bishop, the castle, the horse. Why do they stand beside you and your king.

If i imagine their face, the would surely have a serious and no nonsense look but with the softness in their eyes only for the one they stand for.

I smiled when i thought who would be such person in my life and just as i thought a smile spread across my face.

Our parents and our siblings.

Wouldn't they just do anything for you? They stand beside you even when you are wrong. As you grow up and fall in love with your king, they still stand beside you. May be not as close as the king on the board but close enough as the bishop.

The bishops , two of them ain't they just like your parents?

Isn't it like you are married away to your king and they still protect you.

This time not only you but your king as well. They stand beside both of you. They stand in front of you, even go through the enemy line just to eliminate as much threat as possible for them, because just like a bishop can travel only diagonal our parents too have their diagonal path. Yet they stand tall, with swords on their hands and a belligerent face. Eyes dark and narrow, looking everywhere for any threat. When one bishop moves the other stays protecting you. When one falls the other rises. Isn't this what your parents do for you?

Doesn't your dad fight for you, fight to give you a happy life and a comfortable life. When you move out of your house ain't they the one standing tall and protecting you, and when your dad grows weak and fall, don't you always run to your mother.

And like a tigress she leaps in.

As you grown don't you wonder how much you have leaped around with your siblings? Scratched your knees, fought with them but still stood by them?

Doesn't the playful horses, leaping around the chessboard remind you of them.

The horses leap around, sometimes even are the first one to stand in front just to protect you from the secrets you have been hiding from your parents. Don't they just leap in suddenly and slay the enemy who might spill the beans in front of your parents?

Doesn't it remind you of your playful siblings, looking up at you and when necessary looking out for you?

You share everything with them, you giggle with them and lock down your deepest secrets away with them and for them and when you even get a smell of any secrets being leaked out of the locked box you just jump in and wipe the smell out.

The horses, don't they just do the same.

In the life journey I met a lot of ponies, they protected me and made me smile and stood by me, but we always make only a few castle don't we?

Who do you think they are?

They don't stand as close as the bishop and the horse, nor do they stand in front like the ponies, nor do they stand at an unseen distance.

Don't they, the castles just remind you of that one friend you call your best friend?

They are not linked by blood but like a family they stand by you.

Like parents and siblings they protect you.

Don't they just sacrifice themselves even while standing on the furthest corner of the boards. The corner from which they may fall down anytime.

They are not surrounded with protection like the bishops and the horses.

Yet the stand by you,may be holding one hand with the horse.

May be it stands by the horse because siblings your first best friend.

The horse and the castle held their hands together and fight for you. They will cross seven seas and oceans if they have to , to bring your enemy down and sweep that smell from the leaking box.

The castle stand far and lonely, stuck in one corner but always their to pat your back and whisper on your ears the comfort of the strong heart. Erasing your fear and bringing that smile on your face.

Life is just like a chessboard game.

And just like the black and white boxes in it, with enemy line in front of you, one needs to run through the board, sometimes you land on the white box and sometimes the black but that doesn't mean you fall.

You just need to push forward, stay strong and stand tall.
