Dear Wallflower Girl

Info

You may hide behind the curtain of your hair or the open pages of your book, but someday you are bound to be seen.

Through those mostly downcast eyes, you like observing people. You witnessed lots of things that made you smile, or made you sad or even angry and often times made you wonder.

Your most favourite time of the day is when you can finally cocoon yourself behind the closed door of your room with the company of a steaming cup of coffee and a book.

Or when inspiration fills you, a pen and your well-hidden journal. Then you start writing about your day, until you finally end up writing about that person. Like you always do.

You try to blend in. You do it so well.

You give small, hesitant smiles. Some people think you're weird. Or maybe you're just kind of afraid. You talk only to the ones you're comfortable with and that makes you unsure how to talk to others. You enjoy the sidelines because you feel anxious under the spotlight.

You try to be as invisible as you can be. You start to think you're nobody.

But Dear Wallflower Girl,

You are not a nobody.

You are someone. And not just anyone. You are yourself and there's only one you in the whole damn universe.

You are not just shy, or awkward, or unpopular. You are also good, and kind and wonderfully unique. You can be what you can be and much more.

You are not a speck of fading colour in the background. You're a kaleidoscope waiting to burst through.

You may not be the prettiest or the smartest or the sweetest, but you're YOU.

You have eyes that see the good in the world, a heart that is fragile but is still willing to take a chance, and a mind that yearns to understand.

If you're not good with the attention, it's okay. The world needs more people like you who doesn't seek it.

If that person never looks at you that way or never sees you at all, it's okay. It's not your loss, it's his.

If someone finally comes and sees you even during the time that you haven't seen yourself, it's okay. Let yourself be appreciated.

If you think you're too common or maybe too different, it's okay. Accept who you really are and stay true.

You do not need a spotlight. Because even on your own, you shine bright. The world will inevitably see you. And it's okay to accept the attention and admiration. You're worth it.

Dear Wallflower Girl, your petals are bound to fall away.

Because you are made to bloom.
