Did we love too much?

Info

Part I - Love hurts..

We met at a place where smiles are true,

the kids were curious, the spark was new.

We hugged, we fell, we looked into each other's eyes,

We knew it was wrong, but still why did it feel so right?

You got hurt, I wasn't there to help,

he laughed like a maniac, but you stood strong.

You still helped the fiend, because he was a friend once.

Your heart is gold, but the world is not.

We found a field, where flowers grow,

A place where there is no right and wrong.

How we wished to keep the field,

but as time passed, we drifted apart.

I shared my happiness, but not the sorrow,

you wanted me whole, the man without a mask.

I was too afraid to share, reluctant to show,

the demons inside me could scare you away.

We moved ahead, I wanted the commitment,

a commitment for life, and the rest to come.

A diamond you wanted, a diamond it is,

the only jewel a woman's heart desire.

I moved away to bring the diamond,

A promise to return back in nine,

it took you four to decide,

A separation for lifetime.

I buried the pain, like I always did,

A pain which none can know,

For I choose a man to be so strong,

I choose a nut, which wouldn't crack.

Part II - Love kills..

I met a wolf in the mountains,

A wolf with amber wild eyes.

A wounded wolf she was,

red patches on her lush white fur.

I tried to come close, so did she,

it was fascinating to me, but also intimidating.

I showed my wounds, so did she.

A connection we both felt so deep.

I followed her to a lake, she revealed the wounds,

I tried to touch them, she growled at me.

Her eyes turned red, anger still fresh in her mind,

A reminder to not trust, for trust gets you killed.

The clouds reflected on the clear lake,

The moon chose to show itself.

A wolf's one true love.

A howl of pain, a howl of love.

I asked the wolf if I could stay,

Can I share your pain and love?

The wolf dived into the moon water,

 and turned into a mermaid.

Her eyes were deep, her eyes were blue,

I have never seen a mermaid so true.

the body of a woman, the tail a fish,

A night so enchanting, I don't want to leave.

"Mermaids don't love", a voice beneath the water said,

A voice so sweet, A voice so deep.

A look into her deep blue eyes,

beneath the water, she chose her abode.

I dove inside, a desire to confess,

A moment of peace, a moment of rest.

A spark in my eyes, a spark in hers.

A desire in my heart, but I cannot touch.

I stayed too long, I went too deep,

I breath in water, my lungs retreat.

My eyes are dim, my only wish

Put me in your arms, I am at peace.

Amazing!! It is one of the most beautiful poems I've read recently.
I really hope you have the best. Don't go for the mermaid, you deserve better than to die (poetically)!!

Thanks @enakei . But A man will choose, when to die, and how to die, and with whom to die.

Well, i wouldn't argue on that!
But did the , the wolf/ mermaid show her sign of weakness and pain only for the man to die?

Perhaps, you missed the last line. Death is only symbolic here. I will leave it to the imagination of the readers to relate it to actual death or perhaps to some other experience, may be a liberating one from everything material and worldly.
