I remember when my Spanish Teacher once said "Your grades dont define you, but the whole world is looking at it." Realizations suddenly came in; the importance of studying, and its benefit to us students, as people of the future.
Growing up, I was the average kid; I have never been in the top 10 of our batch, but I have never gotten a failing grade. I already got a 98 for an elective course but i also got a "D" in my computer subject.
Before social media got my attention and time, you would see me reading my book or asking help from my mom in solving a math problem. It just makes me want to go back to the times where my attention was just purely on studying.
Moving on, our batch valedictorian in junior high school and I are close. I remember asking him for a tip on how to be "masipag", then he replied, "Kapag tinatamad ako mag-aral, iniisip ko na magagalit sakin si mama, pag nagalit sakin si mama, magkakasakit siya, pag nagkasakit siya, pano na lang mga kapatid ko?" I had no words. I was just asking for a tip, but he gave me a life lesson that was disguised in a slippery slope scenario. Its his way of telling me that, "If you dont study, you have no future"
Going back to my teacher's quote, grades dont really matter. Because it really doesnt! In real life, you do not need to show yout report card to a salon to get your hair done, you do not need to have a good grade to travel abroad, and your grades dont matter when you are working.
But- for now, your grades DOES matter. Why? Because you are a student. WE are still students.
Just think of this, a baker can not bake a good cake if his measurements are not right. Yes, your grades matter, but it still do not define you and your whole being.
Just remember this, your learnings are far more important than your grades. They are just numbers, but what matters most is what you have learned and how you will use it for you and for your dreams. Because at the end of the day, your grades is just printed in the paper, it is temporary, but your learnings? It is carved in your mind and it will stay there, forever.
