Eight Effective Ways To Increase Your Concentration

Info

In the life of every person, there are situations in which he or she loses concentration. For instance, after reading half of the article or a couple of pages of the book, a person does not remember what was said there. At such moments, attention is turned off or focused on something else. When reading fiction, it is entirely reasonable to skip about 30% of the information. However, when reading the necessary literature for work or study, you still need to focus adequately. As an example, you can also take a situation where people are in the company and at some point in the thought of a person, fly away somewhere.

Concentration takes a lot of time and effort. Even after a week or month of training, the result will not be meaningful if the brain does not work correctly. At the same time, there are effortless ways to quickly and effectively improve concentration. This information will be useful if you have problems with concentration.

Concentration In Psychology

Our brain, like a computer, continually analyses a considerable amount of information. For the complete picture of what is happening around it, it needs to take into account as many details and nuances as possible. In addition to actual objects and phenomena, it also takes into account previously accumulated experience and information. The person does not realise most of this work, it occurs in the subconscious, but we comprehend much of it.

The concentration of attention is the ability to comprehend something at a particular moment, not allowing information noise to distract consciousness from the main thing. Different people have this ability in different ways. Outside stimuli, multitasking, a large number of unresolved tasks distract our knowledge from the current action. We can say that concentration is your mental effort you direct toward whatever you're working on or learning at the moment. People sometimes confuse it with attention span, but attention span refers to the length of time you can concentrate on something.

If you've ever collided with a challenging task at work, spent time on a finicky project, prepared for an important exam, you might have wished you could increase your capability to concentrate. So, what do you need to do if you want to improve concentration? Here are eight tips that can help to stay more concentrated.

Planning

Planning the day allows you to better focus on the tasks at hand. There are a vast number of gliders for every taste and color. It is not necessary to fill every second of your time with any tasks, as leaving time to rest is also essential.

It is enough to plan the main tasks, distributing in the morning, day and evening. Of course, there is a chance not to complete the whole list, but most will be achieved thanks to planning. It also helps to manage your time resources more appropriately.

Mindful Rest

If you have a hard time to keep concentration, it means you need some time to rest. Being productive doesn't include working 24/7 while lack of rest throughout the day only damages your productivity and focus on tasks. Taking short breaks for a few minutes from time to time can help to refresh your mind, restore energy, and ensure your complete focus on your work or specific activity.

Let yourself not think about anything for a while to take your mind off. Play a relaxing game on the phone, meditate for a while, immerse yourself in an interesting book, have a cup of tea, or any option of your choice. However, it's best not to go into social networks, as they carry a lot of unnecessary information. Information noise only leads to distracted attention and loss of concentration.

Spend More Time In Nature

To boost your concentration naturally, you should try to get outside every day, even for just 15 to 20 minutes. Any natural environment has benefits, and so you can take a short walk through a park or sit in your garden or backyard, and can also help.

The positive impact of natural environments is supported by scientific proof increasingly. Recent research found evidence to suggest involving plants in office spaces helped growth not only concentration but also productivity, as well as workplace satisfaction and air quality.

Try to add a plant or two to your workspace or home for a range of positive benefits. If you don't have a green thumb, succulents make great choices for low-maintenance plants.

Eat Right Products

The first thing in your morning routine that can help with boosting your focus is eating breakfast. Aspire to eat a meal that's low in added sugars and high in protein and fiber. There are also a massive number of products that help to increase attention. The primary condition is that they should be on the table every day at least a little bit.

Vegetables and any greens. Products such as dill, cilantro, parsley, green onions, arugula, spinach, leaf salad include something without which mental work is merely impossible: a considerable amount of minerals; vitamins C, group B; folic acid. Especially important for the ability to concentrate B vitamins and folic acid.

Nuts and seeds. Seeds of sunflower, pumpkin, flax, walnuts, pine nuts, hazelnuts, peanuts, cashew - it is a concentrate of vitamins, use vegetable oils and minerals. Among the valuable substances in nuts are vitamins E and group B, a large number of minerals, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, vegetable proteins. Besides, nuts and seeds help rejuvenate the brain cells and thus improve all its functions, including cognitive. Nuts also strengthen memory.

CBD-products. CBD is a commonly used natural supplement that offers many health advantages and potential properties to relive different conditions and disorders. Studies show that CBD oil can improve not only focus but also treat many diseases such as anxiety-related disorders, depression, insomnia/hypersomnia, epilepsy, schizophrenia, etc. Due to high popularity, CBD products are available on the market in various forms: from CBD capsules and balms to CBD drinks and gummies. For increased concentration, CBD oil as an additive to your diet and the CBD as mentioned earlier gummies are best suited. Just chew many CBD gummies a day or add a few drops of CBD oil to your food and drink.

What's more, staying hydrated can also have a strong influence on concentration. Even small dehydration can make it harder to focus or remember vital information. Therefore try to drink more water, 1-2 litre a day.

Arrange A Workplace

Distraction factors are generally divided into two types: internal and external. The inner ones are thoughts and emotions. The external ones are the tipped-over desktop, the noise coming from others, the stifling air, etc. During workdays, especially busy and tough ones, it's natural for a desk to become cluttered, meaning you have a chaotic atmosphere that prevents you from full comfort and concentration on your tasks. While you can be the most organised person, it's easy to let your work desks become messy by cups, food wrappers, gadgets, a pile of papers, and different office knick-knacks.

Chaos and too many unnecessary things can make it hard to find essential papers or missing information, which in turn decreases productivity, waste time and energy, and stresses you out. Clean and organised space is much more efficient to adjust to the right work style. Try to clean the work area every time after work to start the next day properly and without any distractions.

Have A Good Night’s Sleep

We all love to check our Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat and Twitter, watch weird but funny YouTube videos before going to bed, but sadly we must pry ourselves away from the devices we base our lives on. These guys suppress the release of the sleep-inducing hormone melatonin, making it more difficult to get your beauty sleep, which we need if we want to be looking picture perfect on our socials! It's recommended to switch on the blue light filter on your devices during the evening when the sun is going down, but try to stop using your gadgets all together before going to bed.

The brain, like the muscles, needs rest to recover. About an hour before going to bed, all electrical appliances such as a laptop, phone, tablet, etc. need to be turned off. It is better to read a book, which will help you to relax.

Stay Active

The key to exercise is to be smart, start small and do it often. With the loss of casual walking to buy lunch, on the morning commute or up the stairs, exercise now needs to be purposefully scheduled into our routine. When doing some exercises become a habit, you will feel less stressed and more confident to tackle issues in life.

Cognitive science proves that going outside to run after working for hours helps for a mind shift. Namely, give your mind a refreshment by physical exercise. Besides, commonly acknowledged benefits of sports are like cardiovascular health improvement, lower risks of heart disease, and mental health benefits. Exercise releases endorphins that can energize you, make you feel good and promote feelings of calm focus, taking you out of negative thought patterns that might arise in a fully sedentary day.

More importantly, qualities such as persistence you develop through sports provide life lasting benefits. Regular physical activity also improves the time of concentration and attention to details. Thus, do outdoor activities when you feel frustrated and upset. It will take you back to a peaceful and focused mind. This needn't be a run every morning and HIIT every evening, just a gentle walk, yoga session for half an hour each day can significantly reduce anxiety and stress, improve memory, mood, self-esteem and cognitive function.

Train Your Brain

Spending 15 minutes a day, five days within a week, on brain training activities can have a significant influence on your concentration. Brain training games can help to develop working and short-term memory as well as improve processing and problem-solving skills.

Playing the following types of brain training games can help you get better at concentrating. Try to play different games such as sudoku, crossword puzzles, memory games, chess, jigsaw puzzles, word searches or scrambles.
