Faith Based Recovery Program For An Opioid Addict

Info

No one knows the gravity of an opioid addiction until they see their loved one enduring such an experience. It is getting increasingly common but difficult to counter. With the help of a faith based recovery program, you can get loved ones out of this addiction without risking your relationship with them.

What are the signs?

First thing first, identification of the symptoms is integral for the treatment. Faith based recovery program is way more effective if yours is a spiritual or religious surrounding with the addicted person being a person of faith as well.

Take notice of their daily habits and symptoms to identify the issue. Take your time and if possible, note down the minute details to help the faith based recovery program officials to understand how to tackle the case.

Opioid addiction is the failure to control the usage of opioids when they are interfering with daily functioning. In such a situation, the victim starts to separate and isolate themselves slowly from friends, family etc. This kind of addiction generally starts with the medical prescription of opioid-based drugs, but it somehow progresses into an addiction.

If your loved one has an element of spirituality and religiousness within them, faith based recovery program can help them pull out of this phase. Look out for these symptoms so that intervention is possible before it becomes worse.

How to tell that you are willing to help them

Not everyone reacts the same when you approach them and tell them about your willingness to help them. They may act defensive or consider it demeaning. However, if you truly want to help them, you have to communicate their dependence on prescription drugs and opioids in the right way using subtle supportive ways.

You need to be supportive in your approach and not talk in an accusatory manner. This can further push them away instead of bringing them closer to the treatment and faith based recovery program. Keep trying this way, as they may not respond positively once, but repeated supportiveness can help them convince that they are addicted and they need help.

How to introduce them with the right resources

You must understand that the more you are learned of the options available to recover them, the better you can help your loved ones to come out of the addiction and drug abuse. Faith based recovery programs do not support the use of labels and criticism of character. But, there are more subtle ways of discussing someone's changed behaviour and the possible available solutions. Jesus, in his famous Sermon on the mount, said:

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you

So, put yourself in the place of your loved ones, and give them access to resources with that thought in mind. We are aware that supporting a dear one in such times can be difficult for yourself as well, but the result of a healthy and recovered person should be your driving force as well.
