McAfee Agent can be defined as the distributed component of McAfee's ePO. McAfee agents are used to downloading and enforcing the policies. It is also used to execute client-side tasks like updating or deployment. You must install the McAfee ePO on the device which you want to manage. This McAfee agent sends all the information on events to the ePO server. It is also used for installing and updating all the endpoint products and policies. You cannot manage your ePO without McAfee Agent.
Steps to assign McAfee Agent
Tap the System tree button
Click on My Organization
Now click the Assigned policies tab
Go to the drop-down menu and click on McAfee agent
Click on General list and choose Edit Assignment option
Go to the Inherit button and choose Break inheritance
Choose POC-General from Assigned Policy menu
Tap the Save button
Now you have assigned the policy to the group and its subgroups.
Steps for deploying McAfee agent
You need to verify the communication between your server and system before you deploy the McAfee agent. You also have to access the default Admin on the client-side. In case the test systems are not part of the domain then you also copy the Framepkg.exe directly to the client-side. You can also execute the file locally. You have to locate one of the following directories:
C:\Program Files\McAfee\ePolicyOrchestrator\DB\Software\Current\EPOAGENT3000\Install\0409 or
C:\Program Files(x86)\McAfee\ePolicyOrchestrator\DB\Software\Current\EPOAGENT3000\Install\0409
Ensure that now you can easily ping your client system by the names. Now your server can fix the client names to its IP address. If the client system is using the active file then you may have to create an exception or you can also disable the client’s firewall temporarily.
Go to the favorites bar
Tap on the system tree button
Tap the My Organization group
Choose the system tab
Now you have to change the preset drop-down button to the group
Check the System Name box from the column and then it will view all the systems
Go to Actions option
Choose Agent and tap the Deploy Agents option.
Steps for sending Agent Wake up call
Tap the system tree button
Go to My Organization group
Choose the System tab
Now you have to change the reset to all subgroups. Check whether the IP addresses and usernames are listed on the page or not. If yes then you have to click on the refresh button in the McAfee ePO console. Close the window and restart your PC. Now check whether your McAfee agent gets installed or not.
