I saw you coming,
broken, disheveled, distraught,
dragging a battered heart along.
I saw you coming,
and behind you, followed
my own reflection,
as broken as you were,
showing me
my own destruction.
She waited outside
as I let you in,
nursed your wounds,
soaked in your cries,
she waited outside,
patiently.
Reminding me how close I came to her,
with each passing moment with you.
Reminding me how I have loved
all things broken,
even me.
