Forgot Again? Here how you can fight forgetfulness

I left the car keys somewhere on planet earth 2 minutes before and now it seems I have to call a messaging service to get them back. I have a suspicion that everyone, husband, kids, cat, any one or all of them, may be responsible.

The whole little world in my house goes crazy and finally someone points at me, "Hey, what's that in your hand? Ahh well, are those car keys. Oh yeah. Okay, I've got to go, I'm late. Now where are my glasses? I just put them on the table here a minute ago!

And the story goes on...

Is this something you can relate to? Do you always find this or that? Maybe you are also sometimes tired of being on the lookout all day! Then it's high time you consult with the best neurosurgeonnear you.

Relax...

Forgetting one thing or another is a part of all of us and you too need to worry less because there are certain things you can do to combat this forgetfulness. Here we share some helpful tips and tricks that you can use to overcome forgetfulness and make it less of a nuisance.

Know what's okay

If you're worried about memory lapses, the best thing you can do is not worry. Not everyone has the same memory, and forgetfulness is common among people. Things you have heard once or twice can disappear from your memory because they are not yet well established in your memory.

Also, you can forget where you put down a certain thing because you were not concentrating on it when you put it down and were more concerned with what you were going to do next. This happens to all of us and is completely normal. It's also okay to be more forgetful when you're sick, tired or under stress.

Some pro tips for dealing with forgetfulness.

Sometimes all you need to get rid of your forgetfulness is a little more attention to your lifestyle and how organized you are. Here are some things you can do to make forgetfulness more difficult in your daily life:

Write

Writing things down with a real pen and paper is a sure way to improve your memory. (No, that's not shaming your smartphone) Even if you don't come back to read what you wrote down, the act of writing will imprint a memory of what you wrote.

Sort.

If you keep forgetting things, like your phone and where you put your car keys, assign a special place for those things. A key holder for your keys and a charging station or holder for your phone would do the trick.

Use a calendar

Good old wall-mounted calendars or planners are helpful if you struggle with memory lapses. Plan your day, mark days for birthdays and events, and highlight important dates. Keeping an eye on it will help you stay on track.

Create smart passwords

If forgetting passwords is another struggle you face almost constantly, try creating relational passwords. Use your birth year or date at the end of your password to make it a string, and building your password on easy-to-remember acronyms also works well.

Train your brain

Train your brain to remember things better. You don't have to go to a neuro-gym, there are lots of brain exercises on the internet or you can play Sudoku the old fashioned way, etc.

Repeat to remember

If there is a certain name or number that you really need to remember, do it by repeating it often enough. Your brain needs some time to build a strong memory. By repeating it several times, you can help the process of memorization.
