From a long lost love

A half smoked cigarette in his hand, an empty bottle of whiskey on the other.

He sat by the shore on a cool winter night, staring at the infinite horizon..

The cool breeze gave him goosebumps, but inside he felt nothing. 

A numbness that had crept into him since for what seemed like forever.

His vision getting more blurred he looked around to see if there was anyone else in the shore, but there was not a single soul to be found...

Then a sudden calmness surrounded him as he heard a whisper...as calm and gentle as the sea in front of him.

"I know life is harsh and unfair. People you care for ends up leaving you alone. Its hard to move on sometimes. But darling, you're stronger than you think you are.

Everyone you meet is fighting their own hard battle, and maybe sometimes,they abandon you because they themselves are tired of fighting their battle. Tired of surviving, tired of finding a hope, tired of waiting for a light that never seems to come. But that doesn't make them selfish. Because at the end, we all are trying to find a little happiness in this sad and lonely world we live in. So, be kind. Do to people as you wish to be done to you. Be generous in giving and never expect anything in return. Because when you're making the world a better place for someone else, your world itself is becoming a better place for you.

Don't give up now..."

With a sudden rush he awakes to find himself lying on the porch. He looks up and smiles. The bright star seemed to smile back at him.

He knew, she was still there watching over him from above...
