“GOD....... or Idolism ”

India, the land that gave birth to the 8 major religions, 2000 different castes, and 15 different languages spoken in 29 states and 7 union territories and hence became an avowedly secular nation. Apart from being a democratic and secular nation, day by day India’s secularism is abating giving rise to caste and religion based violence. Peoples are indulging and aggregating more and more into caste and evolving out from the humanity. Everyone here is overblown in their own religion some in temple some in the mosque and some in church. This leads to their least importance towards the society in which they live in. Although India is a democratic country that doesn't mean it has to be engulfed into several castes or religions.

Today everyone is trapped in their own beliefs and are burning in the fire of hate towards another religion. They fight, they wrangle, they put the cities on curfew just to prove their point of view true. They forget that the ones they are assaulting with are also the creator of the same God. Rather we all must practice the justice and righteousness which is the true definition of a religion. Everyone is trapped in their own beliefs. Now, this is where we are lagging behind. We, humans, forget that we all are born from one creator, the creator of all, the lord of lords, The God. Since ever the God is one but we the humans have demarcated him according to our beliefs or our needs. But we didn’t think about this that God can’t be so many. There is only the one creator of this universe that is one God. The God is the divine. God can’t have a life partner or children, as the God is alone and is the creator of this humanity. And we all are the God’s creations.

God created this universe, earth, moon, sun, stars, humans, animals and much more. He is the creator of all, the only God. But as we all know that if there is a positive energy i.e. the energy of God, there is also the existence of some negative energy i.e. the energy of devil. And this energy misleads the humans into the wrong path of misconception.

Therefore the God sent his messengers on this earth to guide the humans on the right track, to preach the humans to the holy path of God, and to protect the humans from the effect of devils. But look what we have done we forgot our creator our Lord, the only God and hence started worshipping the messengers sent by God and started worshipping Idolatry which is totally wrong.

The God sent his messenger to guide humans and humans started worshipping him and forgot that those messengers were also a human; they were also created by the God.

Today we all are performing the Idolatry; we don't even do what our holy book says. Like all the Vedas says that there is only one creator of the universe, the God, yet we worship so many, which is non-Vedic belief system with all its ritual and conduct-oriented practices have been contributed largely by the orthodox priests to suit their convenience!

 Vedas say that God does not have any form and exist as light, but in reality, people worship with their inherited personal God. People make idols of stone and worship them.  If God exists, as he does for religionists and yogis, and exists separately from them, then there is duality, which always implies the contradiction. On the ultimate point of view God is a mere belief or an idea, a thought, an object, therefore the self or witness, contradict God.

“We should be rigorous in judging ourselves and gracious in judging others.”

The Yajur Veda says:- 

(Andhatama pravishanti ye asambhuti mupaste)

“They enter darkness, those who worship natural things (for example air, water, sun, moon, animals, fire, stone, etc).”

“They sink deeper in darkness those who worship sambhuti. (Sambhuti means created things, for example, table, chair, idol etc.) [Yajurved 40:9]”

"Deep into the shade of blinding gloom fall asambhuti's worshippers. They sink to darkness deeper yet who on sambhuti is the intent."  [Yajurveda Samhita by Ralph T. H. Giffith pg 538]

Those who worship visible things born of the prakrti, such as the earth, trees, bodies (human and the like) in place of God are enveloped in still greater darkness, in other words, they are extremely foolish, fall into an awful hell of pain and sorrow, and suffer terribly for a long time." [Yajur Veda 40:9.]

 The Atharvaveda says:-

The Atharvaveda praises God in Book 20, hymn 58 and verse 3:

1. "Dev maha osi"

"God is verily great"

[Atharvaveda 20:58:3]9

The Rigveda says:-

The Rigveda states in Book 1, hymn 164 and verse 46:  "Sages (learned Priests) call one God by many names."

[Rigveda 1:164:46]

"Ma cid anyad vi sansata sakhayo ma rishanyata"

"O friends, do not worship anybody but Him, the Divine One. Praise Him alone."

[Rigveda 8:1:1]10

The following verses from the Upanishads refer to the Concept of God:

1.  "Ekam evadvitiyam"

"He is One only without a second."

[Chandogya Upanishad 6:2:1]1

2.  "Na casya kascij janita na cadhipah."

"Of Him, there are neither parents nor lord."

[Svetasvatara Upanishad 6:9]2

3.  "Na tasya pratima asti"

"There is no likeness of Him."

[Svetasvatara Upanishad 4:19]3

4.  The following verses from the Upanishad allude to the inability of man to imagine God in a particular form:

"Na samdrse tisthati rupam asya, na caksusa pasyati kas canainam."

"His form is not to be seen; no one sees Him with the eye."

[Svetasvatara Upanishad 4:20]4

The Vedas, the Quran, the Bible says that there is only one God and none other to be worshipped. These holy books say only one message. Then why don't we follow these holy books, why have we created our own beliefs about God.

Also the Sai Baba of Shirdi, the Indian spiritual master is widely being worshipped across the nation. Sri Shirdi Sai was a saint. One of his well-known epigrams is, "Allah Malik" ("God is King") and "Sabka Malik Ek" ("One God governs all"). All his life he kept on saying that God is one, he himself pointed his finger upward and said 'sabka Maalik Ek', so worship God as he has said he is not God, he was just a messenger sent by God to preach the peoples.

Now, talking about some awful practice performed by some peoples of our nation like making of tazia, mourning, beating oneself with chains, buffeting of one's chest and much more. We the humans perform these practices and give this the name of worshipping God. But we forget that how God will be happy if we punish ourselves. Throbbing with the chain unless we bleed, doing mourns, making tazia and roving it to the cities, is this is what mentioned in the Holy Book Quran to follow. Hazrath Husain (r.a) died because of Conspiracy. But, that does not mean to make the fake tomb of him and represents tazia, performing mourn and beating practice to show the sorrow of his death. This is strictly prohibited in Quran. Allah says “Do not kill yourselves or one another” ( Sura 4:29). Yet we the peoples are performing these activities, which is wrong and is not mentioned in Quran.

Talking about "Guru Nanak" he was also a man sent by God to preach to the peoples the right way of living. In their book Guru Granth Sahib, it is well described that

"God is beyond gender and shape. He has no form, no shape, no colour, God is beyond these three qualities."

 “Those who call me God will fall into the pit of hell. Consider me as a humble servant of God and have no doubt about it.”

He wanted to be very clear that He is not God and should not be worshipped. One should only worship the One Almighty Lord.

Therefore the Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism etc are not religion. The “Biggest RELIGION is humanity”. In fact, the Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism etc are the way of living and preaching the peoples the right way.

Apart from this, there are many leaders who spread the knowledge of modesty of God. Like Gandhi Ji, Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam,

Our father of nation "Mahatma Gandhi" he sacrificed his life for the sake of humanity and to bring peace to the nation and to get India rid of British civilization and rule. He brought the fundamental of unity among the Indian and also supported the untouchables.

Mahatma Gandhi stated in his book GANDHIJI ON CONVERSION that:-

" When you look at these religions as so many leaves of the tree, they seem so different but as the trunk, they are one" (vol.72:254).

“The religion is not a garment to be cast off at will” (Vol.75:375).

"Today, we see a competition and conflict among different religions for counting number of their followers …I feel ashamed of this……it is a blasphemy against God and self"(vol.27:205)

It was well said by Mahatma Gandhi Ji that religions are like leaves of the tree, they seem so different but as the trunk, they are one. This Senses that God is one some call it Bhagavan, some call it Allah, some Jesus, and some call it as Guru Nanak, but the existence of God is one.

But human beings are like sheep. They tend to follow the crowd and are afraid of being different. But if the crowd is going in the wrong direction, everybody goes astray. Everyone is following their inherited family beliefs about God, but no one cares to find out what actually they are practising and what has been taught to them. The things are different are it seems. The God is far beyond the idolatry, buffeting, killing animals in the name of God, curfews etc. These awful activities do not make God happy. God will be happy by the good deeds are done by us, by the practice of humanity. He will be pleased by us if we help the needy the poorer ones in spite of the wasting our money on atrocious activities.

We donate many amounts to temples, mosque but we don't bestow the poor sitting outside the temple or mosque. Why can't we give that milk to the poor who is sitting outside the temple rather than pouring it onto the idol? God will be happier if we give that milk to poor. How can God will becomes happy when beggars are starving outside the temples. We need to change the way of thinking and our practices.

We put on the loudspeakers at cities and play religious songs on it. Which is a part of noise pollution, it might cause death to a heart patient, and it might make someone deaf. The prayer can be done without loudspeakers also. The God is not deaf, he doesn't need a loudspeaker to listen to our prayers. Why make worship so complicated. It just needs to close our eyes and remember the God that's it.

If one is seriously seeking truth then it is necessary for him to drop the useless activity of their religion, and the concept of the God and scriptures in order to acquire non-dual wisdom.

[NOTE- The reason behind writing this blog and Vedas, Quran, Guru Granth is not to hurt the sentiments of the people who do so, but to spread the truth among them.]
