It is difficult to imagine how different things are going to be in one hundred and ten or twenty years. Just think about it, when the Doctor offered me a trip to the future, I didn't necessarily imagine this. For those of you who don't know me, my name is Spring Moon and I am originally from China. I've been traveling with the Doctor, a time lord, for the last twenty years or so, I can't remember well enough because time on the TARDIS is different, but I'm writing this journal page specifically for all of you reading this. It's important that you pay attention because something is happening to the society on Earth and it is up to all of you to help make a change. Families are losing their unity, women have lost all their self-respect and it’s practically the children who rule their parents. Personally, I find this horrifying. What is the world thinking? I can't imagine this happening back then.
One of the things that bothers me the most is how there are many teenagers dying from drugs and alcohol overdose, I mean, there are twice as many alcohol flavors now and this is encouraging sixteen year olds to keep drinking every time markets begin to sell a new flavor. And the drugs, oh god, don't even get me started with all the types of drugs they tried to sell me last night on the street. I can't even remember them all, but there was meth, pot, heroin, ecstacy; I really can't believe people buy or sell them. How can people endanger the community that way? Their families? It just seems extremely selfish.
As we spent more time in Costa Rica, I began to realize how little authority parents have in their families. Children simply pout and get anything they want. I'm happy that in most houses, violence has stopped and that girls don't have to bind their feet or be forced to marry a stranger as I was but its just strange... Do you understand what I'm saying? No you probably don't, but it’s that I’m coming from a place where traditions are totally different. Girls couldn't study without serious consequences and now they question authority, "why do I have to do this? Why do I have to do that?” In my times you were lucky if you were allowed to do anything at all!
One day, the Doctor and I decided to walk the streets of San Jose and I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing! Little children in the street were sent by their parents to ask for any spare change, I mean, that is just simply sad, children shouldn't have that burden. There were girls selling themselves on the streets, dressed with really short skirts, high heels and tight shirts that showed a lot of cleavage, they might as well wear nothing at all!
I write all of this hoping to bring some conscience to those of you who will read this later on because if we don't start somewhere, the world will continue to get worse. I've seen the future and it’s not pretty unless there is a change! So please, children, love your families. Parents don't abuse of your children's love. Girls, please love yourselves, you are all beautiful and I know it’s the easy way out but there are better ways to earn money, and teenagers, say no to drugs and alcohol, they are not good for you at all.
