Ace didn't really know were he was, he was just trying to impress Keia so that she'd have a little more faith in him. He doesn't know what is it about this girl, but the more she pushes away, the more he wants to get to know her. She has a big secret hidden underneath those golden curls. As he soon as he thought of her hair, he noticed something different with it today, it wasn't in its usual pony tale he was accustomed to see her in, today, it was messy and it moved wildly with the wind. He followed her hair with his gaze as it fell across her body like a waterfall. He wanted to bury his hands in her curls, to grab her by the waist and take away all that seems to be troubling her and that makes her sad.
"I'm pretty sure you're getting us lost, in fact we are losing time too, you know, if you would just let me see the map, I might be able to get us somewhere!"
Ace just ignored her and kept on walking. He knew how much this annoyed her, that's why he did it to be honest, he liked how worked up she got and how her voice deepened as if it were a warning, and how as soon as she noticed she was doing it she got even more frustrated with herself. It was adorable. She was an easy tease, and if they were under different circumstances, he'd make a sport out of it.
Suddenly he felt a presence near them, could it be the hunters? Have they caught up with him that quickly? He knew how good of a trackers they were but he also believed in his ability to cover his, so that couldn't be it... As soon as he was going to take another step to look around, Keia grabbed his hand and unbalanced his body making him fall on top of her, leaving them face to face, his lips inches away from hers, and as he stared into her flame colored eyes, he leaned in and kissed her.

Keia doesn't know what has gotten into him, lately he has been paranoid and stubborn and annoying, mostly annoying in fact, he keeps watching her with preoccupied eyes as if in any instant she were going to break. They've spent about three weeks or four together and she kind of considers him a friend now, maybe not, but at least she trusts him. Well she trusts him with her back, not with her life, if he knew who she really was he wouldn't hesitate and he'd trade her immediately, he could have his family back, friends, loved ones, anything he wanted, he'd be a hero. Part of her denies this of course, part of her wishes that if she told him who she really was, he wouldn't run or kill her, even worse trade her. The irony is that they'd been traveling in search of the artifacts that could help them save the island and themselves but he doesn't really need to travel long in search of his salvation, it was walking right beside him.
Finishing this thought she noticed how Ace had now stopped as if he were trying to listen to something, she wondered if it were the hunters, by now she has assumed he is running away from them, though she doesn't know exactly why, but its not her place to ask, if she does then she'll have to answer some questions for him, and she was definitely not that curious. She heard the noise now, and without realizing it she grabbed his hand for comfort, she was afraid and after everything they've been through, he makes her feel safe.
Everything happened so quickly she didn't even know how it happened. One second he was turning around, the other one he was on top of her, his face inches away from hers and he was staring into her eyes. For the first time in all their time together, she couldn't read him, she had no way of knowing what he was thinking until he leaned in and kissed her.
At first she panicked and she almost let out a scream but when he stopped and stared into her eyes as if asking for her approval, she realized that all of her anger had banished and instead she wanted him to continue. He leaned in again and deepened the kiss, leaving her breathless and hungry for more, but as soon as she was going to lean in again to kiss him, she felt her hands and body heat up, she felt how fire travelled through her veins and how she was slowly losing control over her body. As soon as she felt this she pushed him off and began to run.
She didn't really know where to go or what to do; and even if she did he would catch up with her soon enough, he was the best tracker of his tribe meaning she didn't stand a chance. When he catches her, she'll be even more doomed because he'll see her skin radiating fire. She needed a source of water, something to cool off before he catches her and that's when it hit her, the lake, there were always ponds near the lake and there had to be one near her. She could hear Ace screaming her name from afar, his voice sounded closer every time... She was desperate now, she began to run even faster, until finally she saw the pond , as soon as she reached the shore, she didn't even bother to take her clothes off, she just jumped into the water, submerged herself and began to swim while she felt her skin and veins cool down.
