Her Escape

She felt a slight shadow creeping through the long maroon colored hallway. A shadow of her past, of the things she regretted, the things she wished she could go back and change, the things that she feared, the pain that she felt. They filled her mind, like the fog of an early morning, filling the air with a moist atmosphere as you walk. Never once has it not been on her mind, somewhere in the deep depths of her subconscious mind. Wherever her presence may be, wherever her mind wondered, she would be pondering these thoughts, these feelings, they would never go away, lingering there indefinitely. She never saw that symbolic light at the end of the tunnel, all she saw, was a dark abyss in her wake, following a seemingly endless tunnel of her worst fears. Dreams mocked her, images of her fears and the things she dreads the most. Dreams turn into nightmares. She would wake up in the dead of night alone, with nothing but the light of the crescent moon through her window, and shed sorrowful tears. By morning her pillow would be damp with sweet pain, silently exiled from her woe within. Deep inside, she had wished, that the morning would not have come. Day comes and day goes, and the dark of night comes again. She sits in darkness, numb with pain. In her hands, a shiny, gray, sharp object, and a white, cap-less cylinder filled with possibilities lay. She looks down at these items, dreary eyed and hopeful. She peers upon what she has done, and what may become of her, as tears slowly fall down her blushed cheeks. She lays her head down on her faded white pillow, closes her eyes, and dreams of a paradise. Of a place where pain, fear, and sorrow, are nonexistent. Of a place where she can be happy forevermore, where she can escape this tragic, pitiful world. Morning comes around, and a stream of light seeps through her window, but she lay still. Her chest no longer rises and falls with breath, her neck no longer pulsates with fresh, hot blood, her eyes no longer open, to reveal her golden brown eyes. She has found her eternal escape, at last.
