Her Lamentations

I hunger and thirst for affection,
Something I know you cannot give.
So I sit here alone staring at my reflection,
Telling myself to move on and live.

But you haunt my wildest dreams.
Thriving on my pain, my hurt, my sorrow.
Have me unraveling at the seams,
Thinking of what may come tomorrow.

So near yet so far,
Out of reach, unattainable.
Like one amongst the billions of stars,
Desperation making living barely tolerable.

To just once hold you is my prayer
To behold you is a wonder itself.
So I'm letting go of all notions of forever,
Cause now, I know I'll only be ever by myself.
