Author's Note:

It is best to read the story while listening to the rain sound

========

It rained cats and dogs that night. The street towards their home is no longer visible and they are half glad that at least, no vehicles were navigating that night, or else, they will be dead and the driver isn't going to be charged with hit-and-run probably because of the situation.

And on this rainy night precisely thirteen minutes before midnight, the trio of best friends- Yunjin, Jay, and Heeseung were already drenched in the rain.

They were in a cinema earlier and without minding time, they got five movies in a row.

Perhaps, the rain served as karma to these three?

Well, that was it. They were all cold and wanting to reach home so much as soon as possible that they are already half running amidst the rain.

Just then, the lone lamppost in that particular street suddenly went out and there was total darkness.

Real and total darkness take note.

They momentarily stopped as it is impossible to navigate such a total blackout in the street.

"Geez, Heeseung, this is all your fault," Yunjin whined, brows meeting. Heeseung was the one pushing the five movies, though.

"Not tonight, dear-" Jay subtly silenced Yunjin as he squeezed her shoulders in order not to cause further trouble.

Heeseung just smiled. He knew that Yunjin, the Princess in the group is not totally angry.

Yunjin, actually quite annoyed, continued walking while the two boys towed behind.

"You can see through the darkness?" Heeseung inquired.

"Yes especially when Im quite angry," Yunjin replied.

Heeseung laughed softly while Jay is already internally panicking about the situation as they were still a little far from their homes.

Then as if on cue, the lone lamppost lit up again but this time, there was something in the street.

Hooded men in black!

They're about ten of them and they all resemble the Grim Reaper except they don't have the scythe.

Yunjin stopped, dumbfounded and Jay grabbed her by the wrist as a reflex action.

Although it is impossible to hear other sounds aside from the heavy rain falling, they actually heard the footsteps the hooded men in black made against the wet pavement.

And there was an ascending guttural sound, a collective one as though they are having a chant.

Heeseung herded Jay and Yunjin to the side, out of the men's way when he noticed they went immobile in horror.

He then stood in front of Yunjin as she was wearing a white shirt. He believes that they will be easily spotted by these men because of Yunjin's shirt color. Fortunately, both he and Jay are wearing darker ones.

No one spoke and seems they altogether hold their breaths.

Hearts pounding even more when the men finally reached them. They all felt being in a vacuum for a moment.

No one ever dared to move, not even blinking.

Finally, after an agonizing five minutes, they assumed, the men are out of sight.

And like they only have one brain cell to work with, the three of them run as if their lives depended on it only.

Heeseung remembered to offer Yunjin a piggyback ride to avoid delays and Jay supported them at the back. They never turned back, not even once.

They reached Yunjin's house first and they told her mom about everything.

Yunjin's mother laughed knowingly. She then asked her daughter, "I believe you are still wearing the butterfly necklace, right?"

Yunjin nodded.

The necklace was their talisman.
