In The Ides Of Summer

Info

it was in the ides of summer, the sweltering humidity of the air seemed to lay upon you skin as if it were a soaked blanket. The mass abundance of clouds filled the once awe inspiring blue of the sky, and transformed it into a sheet of grey dullness. Despite the slowly darkening clouds I knew that not a single drop of water would fall from the heavens to cool the smoldering heat of the day which had just turned anew. In my shack-like home in the trees I laid upon a blanket looking up at the bleakness above with a glass of iced water that seemed to sweat more than I. The garments that once sheltered my body from the rays of the sun now stuck to various parts of my and continued to do so with every attempt to sever the bond. Whoa the while I grew weary of the seemingly meaningless attempts and in a fit threw the clothes off of my being, they rained off the landing scattered on the luscious green of the grass below. For the briefness that could be the equivalent of half a tic of the second hand on a clock I felt a rush of complete and utter relief.

In the yard of the house next door small children splashed and dove in a pool, I grew jealous, -oh how nice and cool that water must feel. I romanticized about diving in and feeling the rush of biting cold send chills of pleasure down my back and the liquid cleansing my body from the adulterating unpleasantness of the sweat in which the stickiness seemed to drown your very soul. I decided to take a glance into the yard that stood on the other side of our house, it was empty but as a bent a little more closely I noticed that they sat in the comfort of their living room, the air conditioning blowing hard enough to move their hair out of the way just enough of expose their little grins of relief, I spat at their direction for they take such luxuries for granted. I had no pool nor did the house of my parents and I have house blessed with the bliss but seemingly simple luxuries like cool air.

I stood bare and open without a care for the ever growing pit of rage boiled inside me, and it quickly grew more smoldering than the unforgiving intense heat that surrounded my body slowly but surly killing me and thus those as unfortunate as me to not have any means of cooling off. In the mean time the pricks that can afford the bliss cool indulged arrogantly in the pleasantries, and why should they not? But they pay no mind to those who suffer in defining silence as they do so.

I attempted to find some humor if any to keep from an anger breakdown of jealously and ungratefulness, but alas I could not. I bellowed a mighty roar to relieve my boiling pit of rage, like a volcano I blew my top jumping and roaring like a crazed mad man. The children looked and screamed, Why wouldn't they? Wouldn't you if you say a kid as bare as the day he was born trowing a fit that could make an ungrateful spoiled brat green with envy? They other neighbors closed their curtains in utter disgust , and my mother and father ran out just in time to see the branches snap sending me into a free fall and then being caught by the ground. Yes if you were wondering I did break a leg, and I did get yelled at for the show I displayed, but I cannot even begin to explain the happiness and they most satisfying feeling when a drop of water fell upon my face. Its cool moistness soaked in and a smile grew on my face and not going to lie I as well grew erect. And Where once drop came two, and where two came three and so on and so forth, until a bombardment showered the earth. As I laid there I pain not half a mind to the pain in my leg, to the bone piercing my skin, all that mattered was the cooling serenity that kissed my body. Although you may see me crazed and may you be right, I beat the unforgiving heat of the ides of summer and I am all the better.
