China, the global economy is facing anger from India and its citizen on its stand of supporting Masod Azhar (JeM Chief) and its evergreen friendship with the motherland of terrorist.
In short China considers spiritual Tibetan leader Dalai Lama a terrorist, and Masood Azhar a proven terrorist a innocent man. Also China alone didn’t allow India in Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG). That’s bad and shows the negative intention of their leadership towards India.
Well the question is of not just banning the Chinese Product, but we need to handle the situation with utmost care on the TRADE FRONT as well as on the BORDER.
Present market share even shows the decline in the consumption or usages for the Chinese Products in India.
But the question is why does the government does ban its import even they know where is our money going to be used?
The answer is W T O.
Yes you heard it right, World Trade Organization.
The International body that governs the Trade of Goods between various countries under many accepted guidelines, one of them is nations cannot unilaterally ban the import of the products from other countries.
Before the growth of Global China, Indian market was enough to meet the demands of our requirements, except few. But later our market was flooded with entry of cheap and substandard Chinese product, and ultimately many of our local industries gave up and died.
The biggest chunk of imports from China to India involves following products:
1. Electronic & electric products
2. Machinery
3. Various chemicals
4. Fertilizers
5. Iron or steel product
6. Plastics
7. Mineral fuels and Oils
8. Gems, precious metals, coins
9. Ships, boats
10. Medical, technical equipment
The reason for such a high rate of import is lower cost than we manufacture in India itself.
Secondly, the government receives a huge amount of money as duties levied on the import of such products.
SO second reason why we cannot ban the Chinese Product is directly the import tax received by the government will be reduced considerably.
Is banning the Chinese Products the only option to stop China from helping a terror creator?
With WTO its near to impossible as you need to prove the product worth of Dumping which we cannot at present even with their substandard.
But on an individual scale we can stop use of the Chinese Products. There is need to find the alternatives in the market, But definitely you will have to pay more.
What can be done on INDIVIDUAL and NATIONAL LEVEL?
A very easy way is “WE need to stitch what we WEAR”.
Simply blocking Chinese imports will only lead to a supply-demand gap and worsen the situation. And not only will the Indian manufacturers need enough support, foreign direct investors will need adequate incentives to view India favourably as a manufacturing destination.
We need to control inflow of Chinese goods such that the exports and imports are near matching.
Silk, footwear, khadi and village industries products, toys, automobile parts, ceramic products, finished plastic products, and solar cells are only some products where Chinese imports are hurting the present and future of India’s manufacturing industry. We can boycott sectors easy as we have alternatives available in the market with not more required to pay for it.
I read of a very good plan that can be adopted from China’s way of doing business as: - “Let India import raw materials from China and sell back finished products. Chosen on a case-to-case basis and wisely, we could have a scenario where there is minimal (zero!) duty on raw material imports in industries where high import taxes are levied on the finished goods to promote ‘Made in India’ manufacturing across those industries! [We can learn a lesson or two from China’s import duty regime here.]”
A big boost to our economy can be done this Diwali as Decorative lights, Toys and Knick-knacks, fashion accessories made in India can be used and enjoy our festival.. The ‘Desirable’ items like Diwali crackers, Dhanalakshmi/ Kubera Yantra, Toys etc should be completely stopped with immediate effect as not using them is not going to have any impact on our day-to-day life. This will be a starter for Chinese manufacturers and Indian traders dealing with Chinese goods and also a positive indicator for Indian manufacturers to begin reviving own manufacturing. This will help the industries generate a substantial amount of wealth.
Thereafter, we need to cut down the consumption of ‘Essentials’ like domestic items like combs, mobile phones, plastic items etc by not replacing them at our usual periodicity and reduce the demand.
Once the consumption pattern and trends are seen, the domestic manufacturing will definitely take on to fill in the demand created by this public movement. The trends will send good signal for the domestic industry to commence manufacturing ‘Vital’ items..,
And then the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Skill India’ will boost Indian manufacturing industry and the public initiative of boycotting Chinese items will mutually complement to replace Chinese goods in no time at fairly competitive price and possibly, better quality.
So this Diwali instead of fighting on individual grounds based on differences in opinion lets stand united to show a terror financing country that what could be the impact on its economy if it doesn’t stop keeping an evils eye on our land. LETs take a vow to support our motherland.
Be United Be INDIA.
