I woke up removing all the nails
from the momentary beating within
Thought the sun will end today
so I walked with my footsteps
timed to the drums
of my favorite 80's song
In my ears are melodies of words
I dreamt screaming at 16
in the back of the car
In a little while,
the pool in sight gravitated towards me
and the skies pour out its fury
I stayed too long with the waters
I thought it would drown me
But it made me swim instead
The sun is still holding on
and yet the moon is at haste
Now the scent of dewy grass
came following my face
The frosts on my toes
signaled me to rest
while the song continues to play
Every second passes,
the more it fades
"You steal the air out of my lungs
you make me feel it
I pay for everything we lost,
buy back the secrets
Your hand forever's all I want
don't take the money
We were shotgun lovers,
you're a shotgun running away"
In peace,
with my fake bravado gone
and my erratic impulses wading
I thought I'd never be the same
New dreams visit me these nights
and they no longer halt my sleep
Echoes of voies forming new thousands of words
Words I almost said to you when my head catches heat
Each line louder from the other
Not haunting,
Just clearer:
"I will never not recognize you
in the midst of the crowd
For I smelled every scent of your body
from the inside and the out
You told me the clock's ticking stops
whenever I'm around
But love, I've been there too
you were nowhere to be found"
