The Kiss

She woke up with a wide smile on her face and excitement in her heart. She's been waiting for this day since a long time, the day when she'll have her first kiss.

Avantika used to go to an 'all girls' school, so she didn't have any male friends.But in college, she met Karthik. She confided in him. He was her first love and the feeling was beautiful. They were perfect together.

But first kisses are always awkward. They are far different from how it is shown in movies. It had been five months since they've been going out but they could never gain the courage to kiss. So they decided to go on a date again at 'Suzette' where they had their first date. But this time it was going to be even more special.

After 3 hours of intense search, she finally found the perfect dress. It took her 2 more hours to find the right accessories that would go with that dress.She brushed her teeth twice and even flossed that day (which she'd never do on a regular day).She made sure she had enough mint and lipgloss in her purse. She looked at herself in the mirror and smiled. She had never felt so beautiful before. 

She reached the decided venue right on time. She kept waiting for Karthik who didn't show up even after an hour. She was aware of Mumbai's traffic and hence decided to wait for some more time. She sat there anticipating their first kiss. She tried calling him but there was no one at the receiving end. Two hours had passed and there was still no sign of him. People had started staring at her. She left the place in a hurry.

She reached home and called his friend Madhav to ask if Karthik is okay. Madhav replied " Dear, it's been an year since he died. Get over it! Don't make yourself go through all this pain." 

Tears welled up in her eyes. She screamed at Madhav and cried over her fate. And slowly she cried herself to sleep.

Next morning, she woke up with a wide smile on her face and excitement in her heart.
