It is not your reluctance to part which I find perturbing
But rather, the hope to which you cling,
Without truly knowing,
What it is you are hoping for
Have you ever truly seen me?
Do you know who I truly am?
I'm just a stranger you took a liking to
If you knew the real me
All your liking might dissipate to disgust
So I say,
Let me go while I remain
Intact in your memory
Let me go before I unveil for you to see
The cold, the cruel,
The lesser side of me
