Like a dead leaf

Each and every night I drowned into sleep with his face on my mind. His smile, the words he spoke , his every single attribute embedded on my heart . I would go to school daily with hope that the usual path of my life will change and he will finally lead me away from astray like a guiding light. I always believed that we were supposed to be. The way he looked at me . He would text me every night. He hugged me as if he was holding the world. It will be inevitable to keep us from being one. 

December 5th , I decided to let him know what I have been feeling for him since a long time. I had pondered over this every night.I remembered him telling me "You can trust me " . Come on girl, it's the 21st century , I can propose to him, I thought. I had packed extra sandwiches for lunch as I knew it was his favorite. I saw him standing at the margin of the school corridor with some of his friends. I walked down the corridor as if I was walking down the aisle for my wedding. "Have you heard the latest gossip ?" Said my bubbly friend . She came out of nowhere and stood right in front of me . "Um, I'll talk to you later ?" I said. But she kept on going "They are the hottest new couple !!!" She squealed . He walked down the corridor towards me . He was blushing profusely . I was captivated by his charm but soon my gaze shifted to the girl who was clinging on his arm. I froze . "Aren't they the best? " My friend asked. He walked right past me as if I was invisible. Didn't he know that I had feelings for him ? Was there something wrong with me ? I was lost in the abyss of pain and confusion.

We often think that we may have misinterpreted their actions towards us but the truth is many people tend to play with other's feelings mercilessly. Be it a guy or a girl stay strong and don't let the world fool you. I believe there are millions of unfeigned souls out there but there are others too. Love unconditionally but know the vessel before you serve.
