Like Those Days

I miss him.

She thought.

Grabbing her tablet, she unlocked it and opened her messaging app. She sighed as she scrolled through the recent messages, stopping after reading his name.

She hesitated.

What if he's busy? Or what if he's talking to somebody else? I don't think he even wants to talk to me... Ugh why is this so hard?!

She rolled around the bed, pushing her face in a pillow and groaning against it. This always happens. She misses him, the she decides to talk to him, and then she gives up. She laid on her back, releasing another sigh of frustration. After a few moments of hesitation, she tapped her phone to delete it, but to her horror she had pressed the wrong button. She had sent it.

Hey

It was quiet for a while. He wasn't responding. She bit her lip, nervous about what he's probably thinking at the moment. Oh no, stupid, stupid Sam! Why the hell are you so clumsy?!

She was surprised when she heard the 'ping' sound from the gadget, and even more surprised when another message showed up. She had thought that he wouldn't respond.

What's up?

It's late, why are you still up?

She smiled, allowing herself to assume that he was concerned.

She furrowed her brows, wondering how he knew that she and Jay are becoming closer.

She pictured him scoffing, snickering at the thought of him actually getting jealous. She knew he used to like her, but these past months she didn't think he did anymore.

Really, besides, I have someone else that I like. And, I've only recently been on a break up

She scoffed, anger suddenly bubbling inside her.

And why do you care? You didn't when you left, now did you?

She waited for the reply. A 'ping' was heard from the phone after about a minute.

I'm sorry. I'm mad at myself too. I just decided to stay focused on my studies instead of paying attention to you guys all the time

I never wanted you to 'pay attention all the time'. I just want you to pay attention sometimes. Do you know how it hurt when you started avoiding me like you never knew me? I still hung out with them but it never felt the same without you

Her eyes started to get teary. She remembered everything they did, everything about him that made her fall in love.

She remembered his beautiful dark eyes which was framed with long thick lashes that she was so envious of. The way he smirks cockily every time he has something to boast to her. The special moments with them- with him- that she treasured in her memories. Even the simple ones, like the times when he would tease her about her small teeth and then they would argue, or the times when she would bug him countless of times, and they would bicker until one of them gives up or the mighty Dan stops them.

Back then she was always so excited for school because she would see him and then her day would be complete after another adventure. And during weekends, they would hang out and simply do fun stuffs all day long, even if it meant breaking the rules.

But then he started avoiding her. Them. It hurt her. More than she thought it would, and she thought that it was only her petty crush that's making it hurt worse. But it wasn't just a petty crush. She had fallen, and she knew it, she just didn't want to believe it.

I just miss us hanging out together

Yeah, the last time we talked was when you invited me to join you guys at our secret spot

I just wish things were back to how it used to be

I wish I did what you did and focused on my studies as well

But I was too stupid

She smiled, a chuckle escaping her lips despite his innuendo, she was happy that he was talking to her again.

And she wanted it to stay that way.
