Loving someone you can never be with

"Oh the utter heartbreak of loving someone you can never be with.

"Hey Diane, do you think he'll like me back?" She stared at her reflection, continuously searching for flaws. "You're alright. If he doesn't. He's one blind piece of shit" She laughed and smiled at me.

"Thank you."

"For what?"

"For always being there"

I sighed and stared at her. She looks so perfect just standing there. Her eyes twinkled as she kept on smiling. "You know i can never be not there. I promised you. Til we're grey and old remember?"

She nodded and hummed as she checked her makeup in the mirror. She took her lipstick and applied some liquid on her lips. All i can think of is how her lips would feel like.

"I know. I just never thought you'd stay even after what i told you. I was kind of harsh" i shrugged and sat up from her bed. The pink covers were perfectly made. "You thought that I'd leave?" She nodded and patted the creases on her dress while frowning.

"I mean, why would you stay? I practically embarrassed you and rejected you so many times, i wouldn't blame you if yo-" i cut her off
"Never. I'd never leave" i reassured and gave her a tight hug which she reciprocated.

We stayed like that for quite a while. Everything was silent. It was just her and i. Just us. No other people. No problems. Just us.

It was perfect.

Until she spoke up again

"Thank you … again" being taller, i looked down and stared at her face. She looked down with a sad smile.

"You're just full of thanks today aren't you?" I told her as i fix a stray hair behind her ear.

"Thank you for loving me… even though i can't love you back"

I looked at her and gave a sad smile.

"It's okay. I'll get used to it. Maybe not now, but soon"
