Meet me in St. Gallen

First, I expected a lot on this movie. Considering the film reviews that it receives and the overwhelming critics. People even posts things they learned after watching it and how thankful they are that they get to watch it. I think, I was swayed by the numerous reviews that despite all the deadlines i’m walking through I really made time to see this movie and judge, or more like critic it by myself.

If it was just for action, hands down to Bella as Celeste, and Carlo as Jesse. What to expect with Bella except her innate ‘siga’ attitude that suits her best? And it was long when I last watched Carlo Aquino’s acting, that’s why I was so satisfied with his acting, just his acting. Let’s go to the story itself.

I sooooo hate the story, though it was a brilliant one and everything, it’s just that.. I hate how stupid their characters are made. Like, in day 1 where they first met, if only Celeste didn’t have to put in her pride into knowing Jesse more, and not trusting ‘destiny’ for them to meet again one day, then it could’ve been a happy ending.

Second, on the second time they met, where Jesse has a fiance already, and Celeste was still a free-spirited lady, they made things they know that is wrong but still did it, for fun.. or for what, I just don’t understand. Jesse left and Celeste was hurt, well she better be because as far as she knows, Jesse was already with someone, and if she was on the fiance’s foot, she knows that it will hurt her the most.

On the third time they saw, where Jesse followed Celeste on Switzerland and this time, Jesse was the one who’s free-spirited and was ready to chase Celeste, too bad because she was already with someone now. The end? Celeste chose to be with her new boyfriend, and Jesse let it go. Knowing they are both in love with each other. End? End.

See what I hate in this story? It’s like they’re playing and chasing each other around. If at the first place, they didn’t let ‘destiny’ to decide on their will, then it could’ve worked out at the first place.

You know, what’s wrong about people when being in love? It’s either, they go all out or they keep it. In love, we should all be courageous. Take courage to stand with what you feel, there’s nothing wrong in following your heart’s desire. To love is to take courage. But maybe, things aren’t just meant for them, (Yep, I want to look at that perspective, heeeeh), but maybe, for someone like me, that i’m currently exploring the ‘world’ of loving someone that might end up to be my special one, but that’s one part of my story.

So sum it all, yes, Meet me in St. Gallen is a good watch, a very very good one. Let us all sink in that not every story has a happy ending, sometimes, it’s just an ending.

Celeste: Tama ka eh, kasi you’re my ideal man. ‘Di ka masisira sa akin. You will always make me smile. …Baka ganito talaga tayo, dumadaan lang. Never to stay. Never to stay.
