Everyone has their greatest possession
Money, jewelry, or any property.
But mine are life lessons,
Hidden in my closet inside a box so tiny.
First thing you'll see is a hanky.
It's white with blue lines on the edges.
But the mood enclosed in it is sulky,
Dried tears from the day you left me helpless.
Looking to the right, you'll notice a jar.
Red ribbon on its neck, a note inside.
"Even if we stay close or we're apart
You'll have my heart right by your side."
Digging deeper in the box you'll see,
A photobooth picture from 2003.
Kissing my cheek and smiling big
The two of us not knowing what the future will bring.
This box contains more than you thought,
Possessions of mine that cannot be bought.
Cause they are feelings from the past,
Lessons from people that didn't last.
