Propriety was left on the side walk before she got on. She had no intention of being who she was known to be for so long now; she was not the prude, not the quiet girl, she was going to dive, head first into excitement, and screw propriety.

You could hear her laugh from three streets away, loud, unknowing, the tears in her eyes were from the wind and the happiness combined. It has never really been like that before. Still, he searched, for a reason why this time was different than the last. He searched her; her words to him before the ride, her promise and her warning and found little. Then, reluctantly,he searched himself.

It was not the words, nor her, nor the speed with which she was driving, swerving and flying over speed bump after speed bump that she almost broke his back, it was his incomprehensible urge to reach for the breaks, to take the control back and drive slower, in a different street. However, he knew, the minute he did that would be the minute she got off and walked away. Her warning was clear, she would never be left again; no more side walks for her, no more silence for the sake of propriety. She didn’t fear him, yes, but she did fear how the wind could bring tears to her eyes, one way or another
