My First Story

When I was about 2-3 years old, China was poor & we were poor too. We didn't have enough food to eat, no cookie, no candy, no cake. Mom told me if I could nap after lunch, I would get a piece of cookie as a reward. She told me that the cat is living on our ceiling loved me, he went to grocery store to steal a piece of cookie every night & put beside my pillow when I was napping before woke up. I believed the story & was moved by the cat .

So everyday, when I woke up after napping, I found a small piece of cookie near my pillow. I ate it very slowly because it was the only snack in one day. It took me at least 10mins to finish it.

One day, I didn't see the cookie after napping, I asked mom "why". Mom said the cat was caught when he was stealing in the store last night, was beaten by whole staff & badly injured. I was shocked by the story. I asked mom to let me go to the ceiling to see the cat, mom said that he didn't want people to disturb him when he needed the rest most. I was very sad.

A few days later, I had the cookie after napping. I was happy because the cat was recovered. When I was four and a half year old, my family planned to move to another place, 3 hours driving distance. Everythng was packed & loading on truck. I thought about the cat on the ceiling.

I asked mom to take the cat & bring it to new place. Mom said that the cat was old & got used to live here, & didn't want to move new place.

I was very upset when we left. I missed the cat which i had never seen for many years. I don't remember when i realised there was no cat on the ceiling .

It was just a story my mom made up. I have never asked her the reason why she made up the story. But the story is very beautiful, warm, & most memorable in my childhood...
