Notes to mom - Seventh

No one likes listen to advice, especially if you are teenager like me there is nothing you'll detest more. You go to a social gathering before you know it you'll be surrounded by aunties whom you've never met giving you life advices and pointless anecdotes. I basically spend my childhood with an extremely conservative grandmother and a very supportive mother. Everytime when my grandmother and I get into an argument my mom intervenes and saves me from her snide remarks. She'll always say Youth is all about experimenting new things and learning from your mistakes. She gives me the freedom that I want and respects my personal space, perhaps she trusted me to take the right decision. I regret greatly that I couldn't right some wrongs. But everytime I mess up she'll calmly tell me "we all make mistakes in life, but instead of dwelling in the past set your priorities right and build a life for yourself". I was too proud and arrogant to listen to her in the beginning, but she believed in me nevertheless. It took me sometime to realize my mistakes. It was her constant support and faith that guided me through those dark days. She forgave me for all my wrong decisions, it was unacceptable to a lot of people, but their opinions didn't matter to her. She raised me her way, not like any typical parent you see nowadays. She taught me to be brave, she trusted me always and more importantly she loved me the most. I now realize that, in life people come and go but mothers are constants.
