This is a real life story. The story of a sweet little cutie named Poltuu. All characters bear real resemblance to the real life people.
It has just been a week that our whole family saw the movie 'Badhaai Ho' in which a late 20- something guy Ayushmaan gets the news that he is about to welcome a little sibling soon. Now,also being a late 20 something lady, I found myself in the exact same spot when little 'Poltuu' showed up at our doorstep unexpectedly. Unlike Ayushmaan my initial reaction was not sad or anything negative. I was secretly ecstatic as I always wanted to be an elder sister. So even if Poltuu was not my biological brother, he had the potential to be my little Poltuu Shona none the less.
My mother was an institution of worry as soon as he arrived. It's natural. Every mom worries about her kid, doesn't she? But in this case she was so worried that she instructed the compulsive notorious online shopper in her family (that's what I am known as in my family, if you were wondering, pfttt) to immediately order a little metal thingy from Amazon. And I had to do that with a heavy heart. Meanwhile, Poltuu Shona was having a gala time at his new home. You know, he is so much of a rebel like me that he is already showing signs! He on purpose, knocked down his own rider. My mom discovered that next morning and picked up the Ganesh idol that was kicked to the curb by little Poltuu. It's ironic since he didn't even bother to touch the other idols that were barely one centimetre apart from that particular idol on both sides. It's like he would have said ,"Dude, I am tired of carrying you around! Why can't you stop eating ladoos.By tempting me and sharing them you are making me fat too. Here, take my mighty kick and get an Uber or something!"
Then yesterday night I saw him wiggling from under the sink to under the almirah. That's when I saw him clearly for the first time.He is so tiny that if I would pick him up, he would easily fit into my palm and have some room for some bread and cheese as well.Looking at him brought back the scenes from the Stuart Little movies. After a few minutes when I was passing by the same spot, I saw a half eaten egg plant lying on the middle of the room with little teeth marks on. I deduced that maybe after tasting it he didn't like it and then threw it like I would have. Egg plants don't taste good here in this city. That was the second sign of our sibling bond.
The third sign was when today morning just after the package from Amazon arrived. My mom had been yelling at me for not being able to get it delivered sooner (as if I can control that). She ripped open the package and there it was. A shiny golden trap for my little dearie. Him being of a different specie is making my parents crazy. It's like they are trying to send him off to a boarding school. At least that's what I would like to think. A piece of bread was immediately taken out of the refrigerator and put as bait on the hook inside the trap. Then the trap was laid at the place where they anticipated Poltuu baby to have been frequented at. I went for a bath and shortly after that I heard a 'Haay Haay' high pitched sound from my mother. My cunningly clever and 'born into the smart phone century ' cutie had nicely managed to eat that piece of bread and not get caught in the process.Undergo any hardship for food. That's how I roll too bro. High five..wait..High paw! Hence, Poltuu remains at large and maybe will show more signs of being same as me soon. When /If he gets caught he will be let loose somewhere else and I hope he will still be happy there :( .
