You are proud
So bloody proud that sometimes it's difficult to look into your eyes
There's a fire that I've never known
The way you defend yourself, your family, your country
Makes me long to have something to be proud of too
It grates on my nerves
When you talk of your lifestyle
Anything else just seems wrong to you
I wish you'd take your judgemental eyes off of me for a moment
Because not everyone can have what you do
You talk of your achievements,
Or boast, would I say,
Were you less modest, and telling anything but the truth
I wish I could have your confidence, your assertiveness
To talk of my achievements, as few as they are
I wish I could be proud of myself
But until then, I'll settle on being proud of you
