Solution 1: Confirm Hosting Settings
QB error h505 takes place due to misconfigured Hosting settings, and thus an error message appears on your screen, “QuickBooks has encountered a problem and wants to close. Sorry for any troublesomeness.” To get rid of it, follow the below-given steps:
1. Double-click on the QuickBooks icon and go to File > Utilities.
2. Then, select the option “Host Multi-User Access.” It means that your computer is not hosting the company file, and thus, you cannot move on to the next computer.
3. Now, click on File> Utilities, and then Stop Hosting Multi-User Access will display on your screen. The option will restrict your computer from being the host.
4. Lastly, you must repeat the entire process for all the computers except for the actual host.
Solution 2: Ensure QuickBooks Files are not Blocked By Windows Firewall
At times, firewall settings may not allow QuickBooks to access the Internet. To resolve this, follow the below-given steps:
1. Click on the Start icon and then go to the Control Panel.
2. Then, click on System and Security > Windows Firewall.
3. After that, select the Advanced settings option and click on Inbound Rules.
4. Right-click on Inbound Rules and click on New Rule.
5. Select Port under the Rule type section. Then, select TCP from the first set of radio icons and switch the second radio icon to Specific local ports. You need to add the ports to overcome the QuickBooks updating functionality.
6. Make sure to separate it by a coma right to the last one while adding the different ports one by one and click on Next.
7. Further, click on Allow the connection option followed by Next.
8. To apply this rule, select the type of network. Name the rule and click on Finish.
9. You need to repeat the same steps for Outbound Rules by choosing Outbound rules instead of Inbound rules.
