Remembering Summer

Info

In life, there are such circumstances that give us moral lessons. We learn from it, but sometimes, the feeling we had experienced will remain in our hearts.

I am Eva and this is my summer story.

I met this girl named Anita who had a Spanish ancestry. She looks like a Latina type - brunette, long hair, with braces and dark brown eyes. She also had tiny splotches on her cheeks that served as her asset. At first glance, you won't notice her natural and ethereal beauty. But if you tempt to stare at her features, you will say that she's way prettier than the blue skies drifting on a daily basis.

She was just having a vacation at her grandmother who lives a few blocks away from our house.

Well, our story started with a simple greeting one Sunday afternoon when I was sitting at one of the benches located in the vicinity of the park. I was eating a rocky road ice cream on cone when she walked by and waved her hand at me. She looked bashful that's why I got up and greeted her back. Yep, I tried my very best to approach her. And the rest of our first meeting was history.

Days pass by we were having fun each day, playing outside with our dolls and blankets. The inevitable time came - she was about to leave and I had to be fine with it. I felt very sad and gloomy all along but I chose not to be obvious with it because she might notice, and it might affect her mood.

"I'm sorry Eva, I have to leave. I cannot promise to come back next summer but I will never forget about you," she stated with a hint of sadness in her eyes and voice.

"I know. I know you had to leave. Thank you so much for making me happy throughout the summer. I hope to see you soon," that's all I have to say.

The next day, she left without me knowing. I just heard that she left from her grandmother. But before she left, she gave me a letter. It was very simple, but the message was very shocking.

'I'm sorry Eva. I chose not to tell you but the entire summer that we are together, I have developed a little crush on you. And day by day, it had turned into something new. I love you. More than just a friend.'

I never knew what to feel. But Anita having a crush on me was big of a deal.
