It's human's weakness; the lack of it. The reason why we always make more of this, an update of that, a change in there, a subtraction in here, the list goes on! Subconsciously, if not otherwise, we desire more. It's natural right? To want more, to expect something new from...something. Or someone. We often get tired of things, therefore the need to want some improvement is necessary. Else we feel like it. But despite that, the lack of satisfaction, with its pros and cons, is necessary.
For one, it helps us grow. Second, it alerts us to whatever we need to cut loose from our lives, or keep as a treasure. Third, it motivates us to improve. If you aren't satisfied with your work done, it means it is lacking. Therefore you will do something about it to make it better. And fifth, it keeps us rooted to the ground; to know that we are human, to know that we can't live in the same pace forever. The lack of it helps us weigh down our options. But the presence of it helps us choose.
Then how about the unnecessary and excessive lack of satisfaction? Would you call it an illness? Perhaps, a person's handicap? Hmm, however you may perceive it, satisfaction comes and goes. From to time, we feel a fraction of it from everyday activities. And when all the ceremonies are done, the emptiness returns. What do you think? In a personal manner, is it the reason why people cheat? Or why people commit crimes? Why people want.....to die? Is it because satisfaction is as vague as heaven's gates?
Hmm. That's right. Satisfaction is vague. Almost misunderstood. It's complex. Like asking what life really means, what does it mean to really feel satisfied? To feel it at its purest? We often take the meaning of it bookwise and say it too casually.
Take the movies for example. Or that genuine love you just witnessed outside. Is satisfaction found in true love? Or is it truly present when seeing your first born child? How about finishing that work you put all your time and effort in? Is that what true satisfaction means? Or feels? In my own perspective, as long as we find the need to change something, satisfaction is far from our hands' grasp.
When you are stripped of everything you have, no matter how expensive they are, no matter their value, are you satisfied?
If everyone's on the run to reach Utopia, or perhaps, The Garden of Eden, are you willing to stay behind? Will you be able to say, "I am satisfied"?
Death is provocative with the emotions we bottle up. It's a bully and a savior at the same time.
