Saumya- a Cynophilist

Info

“People change and things go wrong, but just remember life goes on!”

                                                                                              ---Mac Miller

People come and go. Even those you never want them to leave. But they have to. And they will. That’s a part of life and you have to life with it. In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: it goes on. Regardless of whether something good or bad happens to you, you can take comfort in the fact that life goes on.

Well, I don’t think these few sentences are enough to define me. That’s not all. Then let’s get started.

Saumya, a crazy fun-loving girl who loves to laugh and be happy, lives in the moment, like a sunshine spreading happiness all over, dance with the rhythm, love to travel and explore, photography is my passion, capturing moments turning them into memories, full of tantrums yet simple but sometimes I need some alone time to think and recharge myself. Also, there is just one word which is enough to define me-Dogs. My never ending love for dogs. People who know me have always seen the cynophilist side of me. I just want five things in my life- dogs, more dogs, a big house for my dogs, parks to walk my dogs, and a partner who loves dogs.

Now here comes a question- why did god send a crazy creature like me on earth? What does he want me to achieve? Three things are very famous about me-people say-one, she laughs a lot. Like ‘Are you crazy man! How can you laugh so much!’. I literally laugh till my stomach says- Stop! I can’t bear that anymore. Tears roll down the cheeks! With this, all the people around watching us, hearing our laughter, joins in. Some people laugh and some people smile. And yes, I love that thing. If a person, be it a stranger, is smiling and the reason is you, it’s the most amazing feeling. I’m happy when people around me are happy.

Second, my talkative nature. Without any topic or without any subheading, I can just go on and on and on. My friend’s are like ‘Shut up Saumya for god’s sake!’ Why should I right? I always speak my heart out. If I want to say something, I say it without any hesitation. That’s me!

Third, my eternal love for dogs. People call me mad, they call me crazy for being in love with dogs to such an extreme level. I don’t feel for humans as much as I do for them. But I was not always like this. Something bad happened which has changed me and my life like forever. I was never afraid of dogs. From the time I came down on this earth I remember, dogs were the only creatures that made me happy. But then, I was not furious for their protection as I’m now.

There was a girl named Sanjula, an old friend of mine. She neither hated nor loved dogs but used to be afraid of them. Whenever she crossed her path on her way to work, a dog named ‘Buzo’ barked at her. And she used to step back afraid. Buzo lived with her only human mother (grandma). One day she heard the dog cries very far from her place. She decided to go there and check what happened. Reason Buzo was crying- Grandma was no more. Dogs, very loyal and protective towards their family can’t take it if any of the family member gets hurt. But here, the situation was dismaying. Buzo, beside her dead human mother, waking her up, trying to move her with his paws, thinking why isn’t she saying anything to me, why isn’t she playing with me, have I done something wrong?, ..not leaving her side.

But she had to go! Her dead body had to be taken away. From that day onwards, Buzo became silent. He neither barked on anyone, nor played. No one was there to feed him so food was not an option. He just laid there silently, without even moving his paws. Tears can be seen in his eyes.

Sanjula noticed Buzo’s changed behaviour. Day by day Buzo was becoming weak, for all obvious reasons. Then one day, she decided to overcome her fear and feed that dog. Slowly and gradually, she was able to give him biscuits. Once you show your love to a dog, they are yours. That’s the thing about dogs.

When Sanjula started to walk away from Buzo, he followed her. After giving a thought, Sanjula said just one word to him, “Come!”, and Buzo was right beside her. When she reached home, she gave him a warm bath, hungry Buzo then had some food, they played together and she loved him to the core of her heart. Everyday when she used to leave for work, Buzo would go with her anxiously, making a short trip to the bus station and be there until she returned. And then, as soon as she steps out of her bus, he would jump on her happily, like cheerfully saying, “Yes! She’s back! Now we will play, eat and sleep.

Until one day! When she returned from her office, stepped out of her bus, Buzo was not there waiting for her. She started searching for him, trying to find him, and there.., she sees a group of people standing. As soon as she reached that spot, she found Buzo laying in blood, he was covered with blood all over (car accident maybe). She took him in her arms, running and shouting, screaming for a doctor who could save him, but little did she knew that Buzo was already dead.

Sky cried that night with heavy rainfall.

What do you think she would have done then? After that horrifying moment, she took a pledge to be a dog-life saver. From that black day onwards, the only aim in her life was to be the best veterinarian so that no Buzo will die like this again. She still have that dog collar which she had made for Buzo. Rightnow, she is trying to save each and every dog life (be it a stray dog).

My love for dogs, from that moment, took a flight and reached high above in the air, upto that extreme level. For now, I’m proudly owned by a German Shepherd and his name is Panther.

So, my dream is to build an NGO for all the stray dogs, neglected dogs, dogs who gets abandoned by their family/owners due to their disabilities or any reason. And one day I will. I don’t want any dog to live on the streets. Every dog deserves a home and warm love. They should be a part of family, treated as a family member. For now, I’m just at the initial stage, getting connected with an NGO. Learning how they work, how they manage to feed them all, how many dogs do they bring in on a daily basis and how do they care for them. I’m concerned about their protection from the past few months. All the news and videos of dog violence I come across with, people are tying up dogs behind their bikes and dragging them, they are burning them alive just for fun, lifting and hurling them up in the air and throwing away with the full force, pushing and throwing them from the top of the building, piercing and butchering their ears an d taking a blood selfie, all just for fun! Tears roll don my cheeks and then they don’t stop. They just flow all over.

Crazy people they are! It’s just insane. Like these people don’t have feelings. Can you see what they are doing with these helpless little creatures.

Leaving all the negativity behind, I really want to work for the dogs. I want to protect them. I want to live for them and I want to give them love as much as I can. And that NGO thing, no matter how impossible it seems rightnow, I know I will achieve this dream.

This is my story, the cynophilist side of me.

“The world would be a nicer place if everyone had the ability to love as unconditionally as a dog.”
