"See how beautiful the sky looks." I had never witnessed a clearer sky ever before tonight.
"I had always wanted to come here like this. The stars you see; were they always this scintillating, or is it just here or am I dreaming?” she says.
I myself had been travelling for quite some time now. Had I never left home I would have never ever realized how tantalizingly beautiful the world beyond known was. She also was always fascinated by the idea of travelling and always travelling; never settle down at one place. She had this omnipresent world of her own that she took with her wherever she went. Never had I seen her homesick for even once. She had this wonderful journal of hers in which she wrote. Wrote about the people she meets, places she travels, and things she does when she’s there. I had read a few pages of her journal without her knowing. She would never let me if I were to ask. But my God those few pages I read were more beautiful than those of literary writers. She had her way with words. Even when she spoke she could play with words so wonderfully and so beautifully that it all seemed to come naturally to her. I could never do that. I was nowhere close if compared. She was something.
"How did I ever find you?" she says and gets lost in the stars again.
We had camped on the bank of Chandra Tal. We had ourselves a little bonfire and she had her head placed on my lap. I looked at her while she at the stars.
"Have you never been on this side of the country before?" I ask.
"Yes, two maybe three times before I met you."
"With Family or friends?"
"No one. Just me and the bike."
"Weren't you scared?"
"Oh, I was terrified at the first time. But I did it anyway. I mean what's the fun if there isn’t a little terror in it." She says, but there wasn't a single blink in her eyes. She was that much captivated in the skies.
"So you have been here a few many times before. What is so special about stars tonight that you can’t even move your eyes."
She keeps mum. Eyes fixated on stars. Calm breaths. And then she points at the sky and says “See that star, the one shining peculiarly.” I look at it. It had an unusual blue-green aura around it. I wondered if she had been searching for that particular star all that time. And then she says “Every time I came here, I came looking for that star. But never did I found it once.”
I was listening to her, but I myself too was now fixated at that star. It was nothing like I had seen before in my life.
"But when I met you, you had this unnatural thing about you that I don’t know but am fanatical about. You are that star in my world. And this is how much I am fixated about you." she said.
I looked at her and then at the star and thought “How did the two ever meet?”
